It's no secret that Japan is facing challenges, and among these, one stands out prominently: the country's severe demographic crisis. Japan seems doomed to gradually fade away. Projections suggest that over the next 40 years, Japan will lose almost 40 million inhabitants. This is precisely why there will be fewer and fewer young people available and willing to join the Japanese armed forces. However, Tokyo has come up with an idea: to create a new techno-army. In this video, we share all the details about how Japan plans to revolutionize its self-defense forces.

The West: "When can we get some Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs)??"

Japan: "Hold my Sake."

I've said for years, if you piss off Japan, they're gonna switch from making cute robo toys to robo-death-machines. Japan is highly industrialized, and switching from consumer to military goods wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

Saudi Arabia wanted in on the Tempest fighter program. UK and Italy were okay with it and Japan said no because its a security risk.
So yes, i do listen to what Japan says in major decisions/geopolitics

WW2 was a traumatic and deep lesson for Japan, and now that it is in a population decline, every soldier's life is precious, and they have to force multiply each soldier to make the most of them, and can't afford to lose men. Japan may seem like a Jpop star on the outside, but it is a sleeping samurai if push comes to shove. If war wakes up the sleeping samurai, it will either find a way to fight back or die trying.

Even I, a Japanese citizen, was surprised to see that Japanese people participated in the war in Ukraine as volunteer soldiers (some of them died in the war). (Of course, modernization of the Japanese military may be essential, but the most important thing is the "will to fight" and the cooperation of the allies. Japan's willingness to fight means that it is willing to play "Kamikaze"...

Never underestimate Japan; the country ruled by the Warrior (Samurai侍/武士) Class for about 2500 years before the Meiji Restoration.

Theory of declining population deciding to use diplomatic solutions instead of military... except if you're Russia and you consider your troops as cannon fodder.

Many western nations have a birth rate lower than 2 per woman. The reason they are growing is through immigration. My country Australia is growing even though it has a birth rate of 1.58 woman. This was different from the early 1980s were the birth rate was 2.5.
