Wreck-It Ralph Pitch Meeting

Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph!
Kind of like a Toy Story for a new generation (as long as you don’t think about it too much) Wreck-It Ralph was a smash hit when it came out in 2012. With the sequel ‘Ralph Breaks The Internet’ hitting theaters soon, we thought we’d take a look back at the weird decisions that probably led to the first film! Like why is the logic tying the video games together so flimsy? Why is King Candy basically a clone of Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. How come the movie does a 180 half-through through and starts making candy-based jokes instead of the video game jokes we were promised? Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Wreck-It Ralph to find out! It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience.

The reason Ralph only did something about his situation 30 years after getting plugged in was because he wasn't invited to the 30th anniversary party and when he showed up anyway the hotel manager (I think his name's Gene) was super mean to him for no good reason, and that was the last straw.

Everyone always talks about "____ is TIGHT!" & "Super Easy, barely an inconvenience"

But no one ever talks about "YEAHYEAHYEAH"...

"This is happening, are you on board or not?"

"OMG, I guess I'm on board."

"Great!" :D

"Wow, that got scary."

I really hope that's going to be a thing, now & then

When people in my group fitness classes complain about the workouts they are doing, I just tell them the next circuit is going to be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Actually, Ralph had no problem with his job. In fact, he was quite happy with his job. What he was unhappy about was the treatment he got after the work from other coworkers. And by the end of the movie, Ralph got exactly what he wanted -- respect and nice treatments from his coworkers, and unexpectedly, a sister/best friend.

I love it when I binge watch these videos, I actually see the progression of them - being normal characters from the first episode to the absolute insanity that is now.

Sugar Rush -> King Candy
Candy Crush Saga -> King (the company behind the game)

Suspicious!

2:42 This was like the first time we see Ryan NOT strenuously smiling in the history of pitch meetings...and it was hilarious...nice!

why does Ralph wait 30 YEARS to do something about his situation? "because this is when the movie starts"-AWESOME! why does ANY character wait, because thats when their movie starts. These pitches are going GREAT. And i love THE MESSAGE at the end! :)

This guy can always find the flaws even in a good movie like wreck it Ralph. It kind of amazing.

This pitch meeting made me think a lot about Turbo/King Kandy. I would enjoy a WIR prequel that centers on Turbo and what he went through moving into and reprogramming the candy game. Ralph and Vanelope could be background/ secondary characters and Ralph could show how he was super into his villain persona in his early days

The true moral of the story was, "Know what makes you happy, and actually do something about it." Remember, Ralph had no problem with his job. It was the loneliness and the treatment from his colleagues that he had a problem with (and that was solved by the end of the movie, esp the former).

2:37 The editor finally stands up for himself, instead of being bullied by the writer all the time. I'm so proud. Got a bit scary there, but I'm okay.
