"Yellowstone" has been a runaway hit for the Paramount Network, with the Season 4 premiere smashing ratings records for cable TV shows. The Western drama starring Kevin Costner as John Dutton, owner of the largest contiguous ranch in the U.S., was so well-received by fans, in fact, that a prequel spin-off, "1883" was commissioned, with more spin-offs on the way. "1883" tells the story of how the Duttons came to own their land, with country music superstars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill leading an impressive cast. Think you caught all the "Yellowstone" nods in "1883"? This is the "Yellowstone" reference only big fans noticed in the "1883" finale.

As a father of a daughter, the finale was powerful. Well written and perfectly acted. That was as close to real as you ever want to get.

I thought 1883 was one of the best series on tv in many years. It brought to mind how captivated we were by “Lonesome Dove”. Sheridan has an amazing gift to connect raw story telling with poignant heartbreaking realism. Elsa’s narration was poetic and perfect - never too flowery, filled with the bittersweet acknowledgement of what could be and what was to come. It broke my heart in all the best ways.

It really made me think of what a struggle early settlers had...

What an epic series 1883. I cried the whole last episode.

The promise made by Dutton was to keep the land for seven generations. Then the land would be reclaimed. Dutton agrees.
For me it was more painful to see Sam Elliott's character die. I'm glad the hummingbird came to him; it helped provide closure.
One thing is pretty certain: Isabel May and Gratiela Brancusi will be able to write their own tickets for movie deals. They were great. In fact, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill did very well too!

Lightning with the Yellow hair is a Legend. Also it hits hard because this is an archetypal story that is meta true. Many times over this story has happened in real life and our DNA, soul, collective memory (Call it what you want) remembers it.

I'm pretty sure the tree that Elsa chose was the tree that is the Dutton Family plot. I think all the Duttons are buried there.

Why is this guy (Neal McDonough?) on your bait? I didn’t see him anywhere in the clip. Did I miss something?

Love Taylor Sheridan, for me he’s the Stephen Spielberg of making people feel they’re in his movies.
The last episode of “1883” made me feel as if I was in the character. Omgosh 😥 one of the most sentimental scenes to date for me. Even my husband got teary eyed. He’s not a cryer at all. It takes a lot for him to do that. This is how great this series is.

@1:09 John is holding Lee while leaning against a tree. The slightly larger tree behind that one is the tree that James and Elsa sit under. @ 1:24 When this video cuts to James and Elsa you will notice that there is a small green sprout of a tree. THAT is the tree 135 years later that John lays against to hold his dying son Lee. This is just amazing detail. its like that Tree sprout connects these 4 people together more than you realize.

I figured either Elsa or Margaret would die based on Beth’s early comment about Dutton women not living too long .

At the age of 67 I have never fallen in love with a character before. Elsa's death hit me hard. 1883 is one of the very best series I have ever watched but Elsa death makes me wish I had never seen it. This was as bad as losing one of my dogs. It will take time to get over it.

Elsa's death hit me like she was one of my own kids. She was my favorite character in this series.

I really liked how we could recognize the valley and land from Yellowstone where Elsa died

What would make this better would to have it on the Paramount channel. I am sick of $9.99/ month.

I was a mess after this finale. It felt like I just lost a sister.
