Building the Cabinet

This video shows the construction of a bead board  cabinet designed to look like a piece of antique furniture. It attaches to the Murphy bed frame, and is removable in the future.

 By approaching the project in phases, I was able to confirm the operation of the bed and hinges before taking on a cabinet making project.

The side stiles of the cabinet, fold in to minimize the amount of cabinetry, pushed out into the room when the bed is unfolded. This works very well, resulting in a much sleeker design than traditional Murphy bed kits.

I hear you! Was originally planning a simpler project but couldn’t find a cabinet that was the right size to hold the bed. You might be able to build the frame and have it fold out from a closet so you don’t have to build a cabinet. There’s another video on the frame that is simpler to build.

I was going to attempt something like this but backed out of purchase of hinges. I dont have the necessary tools right now or skill
