When your boss says something ridiculous, mirror them and make them repeat their nonsense. Its my favorite.

A good way to catch people BSing. They will likely waffle their way into a different topic when asked for clarity in this way.

It common when you follow the advice by Chris the amount of time it saves and my learning is sometimes how partially thought out the conversation was

This is quite the case when you're learning a second or third language. It behooves one to find different ways to explain the same thing. You don't have the facility with the daily colloquial lexicon or slang...repeating a message verbatim to someone who doesn't get 'it' means you're both not getting it.

Interestingly I use the method here in Germany when I’m learning new vocabulary or phrases I’ve never heard before. :)

So long as the person you mirror has the emotional intelligence necessary for the switch to flip.

Please consider editing these with less flashy transitions, the content is great but super hard to watch if you have photosensitivies. Thank you!

Reflective listening was the first thing I learned becoming a therapist

Example: If someone says ''please put the box at the bin'', if that is not clear enough, then ask: ''put the box at the bin??''. Then they will give a clearer answer eg ''on top of the bin''.

People get more annoyed when you repeat their words. I prefer asking "What do you mean by that?" It's more personal.

Basically just be like Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid.

“MUF?”
“Rex?”
“Second floor basement?”
“Questions?”

What about when they respond by simply repeating themselves in a tone of exasperation?

if you just repeat wont they believe you heard and understood? what else do you have to tag their words with to ensure they expand
