Fallout: New Vegas is known for its deep character customization options, and the trait system is a major part of that. Traits are unique character features that can both help and hinder the player, and choosing the right traits can make all the difference in your journey through the wasteland. But with so many traits to choose from, it can be difficult to know which ones are worth taking and which ones are best left alone.

That's where we come in! We've gone through each trait with a fine-toothed comb, evaluating the pros and cons of each one and comparing them to the others. We'll be taking into account factors such as overall impact on gameplay, compatibility with other traits, and overall utility. And at the end of the video, we'll be revealing our final ranking of the best and worst traits in Fallout: New Vegas.

So, whether you're looking to optimize your build, or just curious about the different traits available in the game, make sure to check out our video on the Fallout: New Vegas trait tier list. We'll help you make informed decisions and guide you towards creating a truly unique character in the wasteland. I will also be having examples of each of traits for builds that you might want to use through out your adventures.

Built To Destroy is compensated by Raul's follower perk. Did I mention Raul is the best follower?

Logan's Loophole also doubles the duration of ALL aid items in hardcore, such as stimpacks, radaway and food. That easily makes it S tier if you reroll traits at Big MT before lvl 30. Otherwise solid list!

Wild Wasteland is mandatory for me. So I chose the other trait that would fit my build and give me the most bang for my buck.

if you combine good natured and skilled you get +10 to the non combat skills and it doesn't change your combat skills

I like Early Bird because it encourages you to sleep at night, adding a nice touch of realism to a run.

I love four eyes. It might not be meta or optimal but it’s such a cool idea to play a character who needs glasses.

Logan's Loophole is fantastic for druggie runs, cuz drugs are super OP. You get most of the good stuff by level 30 anyway.

A side effect of Small Frame is more frequent broken limbs gets you the Tough Guy challenge perk (have limbs break 50 times) more quickly for a 20% reduction in limb damage taken.
I'm not sure how the game stacks these two chances, but it either evens out to 100% or a slightly higher 105% limb damage taken, not bad for +1 Agility.
Edit: Digging through the GECK revealed the perks will multiply out to be 1.0x limb damage once Tough Guy has been obtained.

Recently started playing again, 12 years after my last run 😂 and it’s phenomenal how many people still put videos up, such a god tier game.

I'm pretty sure Logan's Loophole was designed to be a challenge run perk in case there were 'purists' who felt the level cap increases made the game too easy.

Good natured is great even if you specialise in combat. The points lost can be regained pretty quickly anyways from leveling up, skill books etc

Little note, though a few months late; The Lucky Shades with the Four Eyes trait give a +3 to Perception rather than the usual +2 with any other eyewear.

Trigger discipline is the trait I take all of the time. Guns like 12.7mm SMG, .45 Acp Handgun and CZ57 avenger all suffer from poor accuracy, yet have high rates of fire. This skill is basically a straight upgrade for more late-game weaponry.

I mentioned this in one of your livestreams, I started watching because of DRG, but you've very rapidly become one of my favorite content creators because of your love of New Vegas too. Very glad that you stated Hot Blooded's *correct* +15% dmg despite the incorrect description that states 10%.

One thing worth mentioning is that, in theory, Fast Shot (weapons fire 20% faster, but are 20% less accurate) and Trigger Discipline (weapons are 20% more accurate, but fire 20% more slowly) seem to cancel each other out. But with how the game engine handles the calculations, taking both Traits will make both the fire rate *AND* accuracy of basically all weapons be 96%. The game calculate the benefit and multiplies it with the penalty, so 1.2 * 0.8 = 0.96.

Skilled is hilarious. 65 skill points across all 13 skills...and you can get it 3 times for 195 skill points over the course of the game.

With Wild Wasteland you can also craft an alternate version of The Fist of Rawr, called The Fist of North Rawr. It has no cosmetic difference, I don't remember if it has any Stat difference, but I know the only downside is you have to run wild wasteland, and dump points into survival

Good Natured is basically just a straight upgrade. As it costs skill points to level up each weapon I doubt most players in a given run will ever prioritise spending points on more than two weapon skills. So in actuality it's more like a -10 weapons vs +25 utility, a net +15, equivalent to a free level up with 10 INT. Plus that +25 utility are in skills the player will likely use anyway: repair, science, speech, etc.

Both Fast Shot and Trigger Discipline have NO AFFECT on full auto weapons - ergo full auto weapons on a trigger discipline character has all the benefits and no downsides. And full auto weapons have huge spread which makes it worthwhile.
