Yup! My 2012 MBP is running Sonoma like a champ. Almost beyond belief how well they can actually hold up.

I have a few of them they still run snow leopard including a silver 2011 macbook pro. I now use an M1 macbook pro but still use the 2011 macbook from time to time.

Man what a beauty, we used to use those in middle school. When the teacher wheeled in the cart you knew it was gonna be a good class. I miss those times.

That’s pretty cool! Would be interesting to see a geek bench or something showing if it got faster or is slower. How much ram does it have?

mine is the early 2009 with 4gb of ram. Yours went to 8gb. I used OCLP to run Mojave. And it runs Apple News +, IG, YT at 480p, Apple TV + and Apple Music just fine. For something I got for free....

I daily a 2012 MBP 13 inch on Sonoma. The 4GB of RAM makes it a bit slow but the SSD thankfully speeds it up more because if I kept the hard drive in it I would be an old man by the time it booted up. The sad part about the patchers is that there’s not many Intel Macs still supported and once they’re all unsupported and it’s only Apple Silicon that can run the new updates it’ll be either really hard or near impossible to run newer versions on Intel Macs. It is nice to see hardware almost as old as me running the new updates even though they’re not officially supported.

I have that exact MacBook running mac os Catalina right now. Sonoma on it would be so cool though. I'm going to look into doing this maybe.

I did that to a 2012 MBPro. Pushes the CPU to the limit but does 'normal' takes just fine. Can't SideCar to my iPad, but I can use mouse & keyboard on it. Cant do FaceTime camera from iPhone either. It's ok, not a deal breaker. So far so good with 14.6.1.

I just did this with my wife's abandoned MacBook Pro from 2010. Open Core stated that Monterey was stable for it so that's what I ran it up to. Seems fine but all I use it for is Garage Band.

I have a MBP 2010, 4GB ram and HDD, core2duo cpu; got it for free and mamaged to install Mojave using dodude1 patch, however it seems a bit slow and not sure if its from lack of SSD/more ram or de to CPU.
What would be the minimal investment I should do in order to make it run better? Also, what would be best OS version for these days?

How did you get the integrated keyboard and track pad to work with that white unibody macbook runing sonoma. Because when i was installing it. There was a mouse and keyboard icon flashing and my trackpad and integrated keyboard would not work.

I just downgraded my 2015 iMac to Catalina because it was struggling with Monterey. I need a new Mac badly. I’m waiting for either the m3 max Mac Studio or an iMac Pro if they make one.
