MacBook Pro 2008 running macOS Monterey!

Using OpenCore Legacy Patcher, I have managed to get an Early 2008 MacBook Pro to run macOS 12.0 Monterey with patched graphics acceleration! This MacBook Pro is unofficially the earliest that that can run the latest macOS version.

A Mac typically lasts eight to ten years with official Apple support which is by no mean short but with OpenCore Legacy Patcher they can last even longer. Though Apple might play tricks in the future to stop this type of unofficial update.

I use to have an early 2008 15 inch and I loved it i saw my self using it more than my main Mac I will buy another one and use it. Now I have a mid 2012 15 inch MacBook Pro 2.6ghz with 16gb and 1 tb ssd and I still think it's very good and powerful enough for daily use, I think the older the better not in performance of course but in design and feel.

I'm going to try to load Ventura onto mine. It's got 5gb RAM and 528mb graphics so should run quite well. Currently loading Yosemite onto it so I can install OCLP but it very very slow to load. Will put an SSD in at a later date

Hi, great video. You actually encouraged me to buy one of these MacBooks.
But I have a few questions:
You seemed to use an external drive, is that right? If so, was it USB of FireWire?
Did you try to upgrade it to 6 GB ram?
And lastly, does your machine have the revised / fixed GPU? Because mine died in the process of installing Monterey.
