I will tell u something, AI can do videopodcasts. We dont need humans anymore.

We use AI to get coding problems solved quickly in our projects. I can tell from experience that as much as its convinient, its not at par with top 200 devs. It makes plenty silly mistakes, hallucinates in bigger projects, and straight up writes some atrocious code not considering basic cases lot of times. So if u completely rely on AI, you'll face a ton of problems

What a beautiful example of “empty vessels make more noise”

Nowadays, people who doesn’t even wrote a single line of code are speaking about coding.

The fuck it does, I use O3 daily, Claude 3.7 and it's nowhere close to what I do on day to day basis, I am not saying it's all just hype but if all you do is copy paste from GPT that means that your job itself is worthless (think about why are you needed?).
And all these code agents they get you 60, 80, 90% there what that rest 10% is not a 10% delta that's a 10x delta that you have to make to get that thing usable and things really starts to get shaky as soon as the context length grows and the fuck it is of top 200 coders on what metric? Leetcode problems?

When will AI replace these podcast guest

Hold it hold it 😅, Cursor, Windsurf and all have just replaced stitching boilerplate plate code together and unless the vibe coding is not done by a developer, you have a code that won't work. Hype is prevalent. What will benefit developers to save >40% effort is Vibe prototyping like HuTouch does - generate highly reliable code using UI from Figma, APIs from postman, functionality from requirements docs and Developer's coding standards.

This is a great possibility.

Even though we are called Software Engineers, we mostly only write boilerplate and trivial stuff like a Civil Engineer who works only to lay the bricks.

If AI takes this burden, we can focus more on larger innovations.

I have taken his free online class. He's ceo of growwth school. My god this guy having no technical background made an AI agent called Jerry who attends online meetings and sending mails and other secretary work. He showed it to us. He just attends high value decision making meetings only rest online meetings are attended by jerry and summarized by it. He also emphasized that in coming years AI wont replace human but by AI generalists aka humans who know how to make AI agents. He's an amazing person. So people might lose jobs but if you learn to use AI tools you'll be hired regardless of your degree. Companies will fire people to replace AI generalists who can make an AI agent who does the donkey work

Lol, looks like the speaker is speaking based on whatsapp university gyaan. When India delivers, they deliver a finished product. Not a a code. Coding is one part of any software development lifecycle. There are 10000 more things to any development/implementation.

Mature service companies such as TCS/Infosys dont even need the code because they have developers who have written a particular type of code 100 times, which a minor tweak, they can deliver a project, thats what gives them an edge, an experience of implementation solutions or developing a bespoke solution faster.

You need solution architects, you need product designers to thing through the nitty gritties, you need UI/UX guys, you need to do multiple rounds of testing, debug the code. AI can make the process faster but not eliminate.

Software engineers make up a significant portion of the workforce. If AI advances to the point where it takes over our jobs, our income will decline, leading to reduced spending. This, in turn, would slow down economic growth, decrease sales, and ultimately reduce company profits.

For example, if a car manufacturer discovers a technology that eliminates the need for human labor, allowing them to produce cars at a much lower cost and offer huge discounts, it might seem beneficial. However, if a large portion of the population is unemployed or earning less, they won't be able to afford these cars, leading to fewer sales and reduced profits, potentially slowing down the entire industry.

Does this mean we won’t be affected? No, we will be—but to what extent? That depends on how advanced these AI tools become in the future. Only time will tell.

Moreover, job creation has always been a challenge for governments worldwide. Policies and regulations may emerge to protect jobs and ensure a balance between automation and employment.

First of All Bolt, cursor are not AI agents, they are AI powered code editors and what do they generate ? A great technical debt, which will require 10 times more engineers to maintain .

I am a cs undergrad and just yesterday I was using o3 for making and applying a weiner filter on a grayscale image and it couldn't even do that, I don't know what are the testing parameters for calling it among the best 200, but it sure as hell can't do a lot of stuff that I would want as an software engineer

You can write code faster but not an efficient one. Plagiarism is in the AI model's core

We don’t need AI to write code for us. We need it to help us write the code more efficiently.

It write code for your prompts but when real time problem occur in code then human is require to solve the problem. I used AI to write code some times it helpful with straight scenario but when logical scenarios coming then AI doesn't understand to write code. its purley my preception. Don't depend on AI for writing code but you can use to generate some sample and do your analaysis and go ahead to modify the code.

Can you share from where you got to know about O3”s capabilities. Do you have the benchmarks

I don't agree as far as I tried chatgpt (open air) too many errors also not able to deal with errors

It can't write code properly if you can't tell it the scenarios properly. Even though I don't this it can compete with developers who work in product based companys.
