Yesss! I remember Maximum Ride! I loved those so much as a kid but I also abandoned the series once I realized the kind of author Patterson is. It just seemed to me he was stretching the story out way further than it needed to be just so he could milk that cash cow as long as he could. It was my first lesson of how the publishing industry is just as capitalist as any other 😂 I've also abandoned Wicked, The Mortal Instruments, and The Magicians 🤷‍♀️

Although I am a bit sad you're not finishing these, you do you! This video was great!

Great video, the two that you mentioned that I was surprised at was the girl with the dragon tattoo. But at the same time I do completely understand, but Saga that one shocked me I actually said oh NO because I am reading it right now. I'm in between volumes but it's fantastic I read the first volume a couple times really dug it each time, then I jumped to volume 7 lol hehehe because my library only had the last 3 volumes this was before I bought all 9 volumes. So now I'm reading them properly I understand taking a break in between the books but don't not finish is my advice, what I noticed by jumping from volume 1 to volume 7 was even though I missed tons of story and plot and probably 10 years timeline wise by volume 7 the story was still constantly great. I picked up the pieces pretty fast and easy so that series I highly recommended re visiting, the rest of your books some I have herd of some I haven't so I can't fully judge but definitely saga go back and read it keep up the great work.

Lol I kind of agree with you on the things that you said about TMI. I do plan on continuing on with the shadowhunter books, but I totally agree that some of the plot points in the different books are extremely similar.

I first read Interview with the Vampire when I was in 7th grade and that is what really propelled me into being such an avid reader. Of course I have sentimental feelings about the Vampire Chronicles series because of that, but I think you should give it a go! It is quite a large series and it eventually intertwines with her Mayfair Witches series a little bit too, so that's fun. I hope you decide to pick them up, and I look forward to videos about them if you decide to 🙂

Omg.. this video is the ultimate throwback! You've reminded me of all the books series I haven't finished :(
I totally agree with your view of the Maze Runner it was alright when I read it and I kind of never felt the need to continue on with the series. I ended up giving the series away haha! >_<
Oh.. Divergent is another one that I felt okay about but overall disappointed by unfortunately and I didn't get why that trilogy was so well loved.. never continued with that one as well.. yikes!

I agree with many of these, but especially CC. It was just the same thing repeated and I can't read fifteen series of the exact same plotline and character types.

OMG MAXIMUM RIDE WHAT A THROWBACK

Oh God, when you brought up Maximum Ride I got flashbacks to when I read the fourth book 😬 that series went downhill so fast.

I'm with you on Game of Thrones. I'll forget everything by the time the last book is out. But the Cinder series was brilliant - I liked the prequel Fairest of All, too. I read that before the final book.

I love book The Magicians! The show is really fun too. Quentin Clearwater isn't as depressing in the show. Don't get me wrong he is still super emo, but the rest of the characters like Eliot, Penny and Margo are super fun to watch. Especially Eliot and Penny. If you start you'll be hooked. The dialogue alone is hilarious.

A lot of these books are perfect when you’re in middle school and just getting into YA, but after experiencing a much higher quality, I noticed that a lot of these books fell flat for me as well.

What you said about Cassandra Clare’s books was spot on. I noticed that she tends to recycle the same plot points over and over again, which is disappointing for me as someone who loved the original TMI trilogy. I do plan on continuing on with The Dark Artifices since it’s already on my shelves, but I can pretty much guess how it will end.

Also you’re not missing out on the Shiver series. I read it several years back and the only thing I remember was hating that series with a passion. This was before I learned about DNF’ing.

Would you ever consider doing a rant review of the magicians? Kinda want to see the rage :p

I've tried Anne Rice, but I don't care for her writing. When it comes to vampires, I usually stick to movie adaptations. Have a great Thursday Erica!

I totally agree with The maze runner and Divergent! (I tried but I was never able to finish those series) I loved the lunar chronicles so much tho!😁

Honestly you’re not missing out on anything for Divergent lol. After the first book it went downhill and it was a good, fun first book but honestly even years later I only remember the plot of the first book, not the other two. I also tried to get into Miss Peregrine’s but once I heard he was publishing more I just put it down. It wasn’t good enough to be worth the time investment.

I've read all of the Vampire Chronicles and it is worth it. I too was on the fence about them after seeing the movie for Queen of the Damned, but the book is SO much better. Actually, I enjoyed them enough that I bought the collector's edition bindup and read them all again 😀

Have you read After the Flood? I think you’d really like it! It’s an apocalyptic book set in a world that has flooded and survivors have taken to the seas with pirate themes!

I read Eragon for the first time last month and I really doubt I will finish the series!
