Hi! My name is Leonie and I am a 23 year old girl who loves talking about books! From YA to non-fiction to classics, I read it all (although fantasy will always be my fave). I live in the Netherlands and go to university, but make booktube videos in my spare time :)

Or when you think you’ve ‘finished’ a series and the author adds on more books

Not me ignoring all my homework for uni and making a notion page to organize all my unread series. I blame you for this 😂

i have the same problem with watching tv shows: the amount of series (even ones i LOVE) i either haven't watched the last season or the last few episodes is downright offensive

I mean I get why authors don‘t write fantasy standalones, they just made up a whole different world just for one single book?

Sometimes, when I want to continue a series that I haven’t read in a long time and don’t feel like rereading the first books, I search for full recaps online. Often, the details given are enough to continue with the later books of a series😌

(or I abandon the idea completely it depends 🙃)

"It‘s too late now" is literally the bane of my existence. Sometimes i‘ve read a series that I‘ve actually quite enjoyed but when I finally come around to get to that sequel I realize that I completely forgot what happened in thr first book

I'm the opposite! I finish series even when I'm hating them because I want to know where it will go with the story 😅

that is one of the main reasons I stoped readind fantasies, it's rare to find good ones on single books, and I'm definitely not in the mood to keep starting new series 🥱

Here's what I've been doing for 8 years now, ever since joining goodreads. I have a shelf called "completed series" where I put the final books of those series. I also have a shelf "series to finish" where I put sequels I still have to read. This is quite a simple and easy-to-use method in my humble opinion :D

The problem is, that you always start a book when it is released, and then you wait until the sequel is out, but by then you have forgotten the whole story and you have to reread the first book. But rereading is not as much fun as reading a new book, and then you have priorities. Honestly, i hate that book series do not yet have summaries at the start, this would make reading series so much eaiser

Just start bingereading those series. I managed to finish 17 series that way last year. You can do it!! 😊

I don’t necessarily have a problem finishing series, I’m just in the middle of so many. I get excited about new releases so I’ll read the first book and then have to wait for the sequels..and sometimes I’ll just wait until the series is finished before I continue. I make a list every year of about 10 series I want to finish that I only have a book or two left in, and this helps me. I also have a notion page with the series I’m in the middle of and a spreadsheet of things I’ve completed/abandoned.

Leonie: explains that mistborn fans were angry because she wouldn't continue the series
Me: "Why would they?"
Leonie: says she won't read Our Dark Duet
My heart: *shatters*

I DIED whenever that sound effect came on when the note fell out of your journal LOL. That's peak comedy! Also; I love how you did your own take on this video! I usually skip the "series to finish" vids because they're usually sit-down videos and just people naming books but this was a whole ass adventure!! LOVE THAT <3

Ι understand why you wouldn't mention Harry Potter but btw I too watched the movies before reading the books but still, even though I new where the main story was going, as the books progress they delve into so many interesting subplots. It's not so much a thing in the first one then the second one is better in that sense but from the Prisoner of Azkaban and so on there is so much more information, interactions, action and backstories of characters explained so honestly I hope you consider it again cause you'll love it. And Leoni, your constant uploads are giving me life this quarantine.❤

When I'm at the library, I would get so excited about starting a new book but once I get home, I don't want to read anything until the next day or so.

Ember in the Ashes is pretty good, I enjoyed a lot. I did a reading journal mostly to keep track of the series I'm reading, and it's been successful. Hope you can start finishing more series!
