Sorry I’m just excited to say this because I learned about it yesterday from greys anatomy: CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) buildup can occur and that means there is too much of that fluid in the ventricle. This is called hydrocephalus, originating from the Greek constitution Hydōr + Kephalē, meaning water and head respectively (water in the head). It is treatable (depending on how early it is diagnosed) with a shunt. That’s essentially a pipe from the ventricle to usually the chest or abdominal cavity. A valve is placed on the pipe, so when there’s too much pressure, the fluid can pass. I just watched thre episode and I am not familiar with the procedure but this is all I know. I am not even sure if it’s completely accurate, so correct me if you find anything

I discovered the importance of this liquid cushion first hand. I had brain surgery years ago and a week after my surgery I developed a brain fluid leak. My brain sunk down into the base of my skull. The fluid was running out of my nose and dripping onto my lips. It was kind of silvery and tasted kinda sweet. Horrible experience. I had to lay flat in a hospital bed for 9 days until the leak spot healed. That event is probably why I am fascinated watching stuff you post about anatomy.
