The mind is closely related to the brain, making it difficult for most people to distinguish the two conveniently. The brain is believed to be a material thing, while the mind, on the other hand, is considered to be a mental thing. Many components make up the brain, such as nerve cells, and these components can be touched, but the components of the mind are not physical and, as such, cannot be handled. In this video, we will distinguish between the brain and the mind.

I'm wondering how the mind is different from all sensory input. Also do we really think with the mind or is that an illusion, the brain is doing the thinking. Psychologists have tried to convince me that mind over matter is possible, my mood is dependant on my thoughts. If i think happy thoughts I'll be happy. I think if one is in a bad or negative mood, it affects the thoughts and our behavior . Like, I'm crabby and stressed or depressed right now, if some one pushes my buttons I'll probably get mad and say things I'll regret later when I am in a good mood. I hate when people say, you need to think positively. I say why? Is it going to affect the outcomes of say, things I'm worried about? No. Mind over matter is to me like a sort of magical thinking. Wishful thinking. I try it sometimes when i am feeling miserable, ok enough negative thought, just turn that frown upside down sunshine and you'll be fine. But that feels phony, disingenuous I am then lying to myself. I try to stay positive but have been through a lot of trauma it seems nearly impossible. Hope I'm making some sense here.

This is like saying the heart is different from the body’s blood pump…one’s a noun and the other is functional nomenclature. The brain is the noun and mind is the functional nomenclature. Mind is synonymous with thinking/rationalizing machine.
