1. Coffe IS overpriced in most commercial coffee shop. There is a reason why every barista is taught to upsell on coffee/espresso shots etc. Thats where the profit is. So not true.
2. Lots of coffee shops use a single shot for small cups and double shots for large cups etc, so not true.
3. Most people think strong taste = strong coffee = lots of caffeine but this correlation is mostly not true and a simple way to get a strong coffee taste is just to roast the coffee really dark but it has little to no effect on caffeine - but amount of caffeine AND taste definitely varies depending on where you buy it... obviously.
4. Lol - we just wanna do a good job and service is like 50% of the job...
5. Alot of shops have automated grinders that get the amount right super consistently - they still need to be checked every single day due to slight changes in humidity and wear but not every single cup. The reason why alot of really nice smaller shops weigh every single time is because they have cheaper, manual grinders - starbucks value efficiency while smaller shops value craftmanship. So not really true.

If pharmacist employees smile at you it’s not because they’re happy to see you. It’s just cause they’re on drugs

It feels like this guy just comes up with ideas, doesn't fact check himself, then just runs with it and presents it as fact.

As an ex barista - the reason I seemed happy was cause I either HAD to be for my work, or you were a very sweet customer. I was very friendly with the regulars and chatted. Always over caffeinated though.

What if it is one billion dollars? What if I stumbled across a cup of coffee that is one billion dollars? What will you do then, Max? Will you still defend it? Will you look me in the eyes and honestly tell that that is a fair fee for coffee, Max? Never say never.

I mean why include facts when you can just make statements with confidence😂

The amount of effort you put in to just a 1-minute video to me is honestly so impressive. Keep it up!

Barista here: I’m not sure about other countries, but in my country:
1) Coffee IS overpriced, actual cost of your coffee is just 10% of its price, additional cost comes from milk and additives, milk being more expensive than your espresso
2) Large coffee has a double shot of espresso, small has only one shot. You’d get more energized from black or brewed coffee without milk, than latte or cappuccino
3) We’re just made to smile at you don’t get flattered 😅

Few points to say:

1) a large tends to have more coffee in most shops, they usually put 4 shots of espresso instead of just the usual two.
2) We do weigh our coffee, every shot should be a consistent weight. But don't expect us to do it every single time we make a coffee. We tend to do this every couple of hours to dial in the grinders.

The point he made on the large latte is actually completely false. When you go from a small to medium there’s an extra espresso. Same for large.

Coffe has one of the largest profit margins out of any product in a caffe...Here the cost to make a cup of coffee is like 10-15 cents while they sell it for 1.5-2€ so a profit margin of over 1000%

The profit margins on coffee are actually quite high. They ARE overpriced in relation to materials but for what you're getting, they're very reasonably priced. As long as you don't get the sugar milk Starbucks drinks.
Cafes also don't usually make most of their money from coffee. They would rather sell you food or meals
