Hold up that’s actually pretty genius. A 100% customer service focused employee base. No wonder it does well

"We can train you to make coffee, but we can't train you to be a nice person"

that is a powerful line right there.

Went there once, got a nice conversation with a chill dude, became friends, and now I'm invited to his wedding.

I worked at a coffee shop in Boise, Idaho that has a 100% focus on customer service. It's a small family owned business and I can guarantee that no other business can compete with the genuine love that is felt the moment you walk in the door. I knew my customers by name, I made friends with a lot of them, we had regulars that bought the entire staff xmas presents. I knew everyone's life story, drink orders, and royalty numbers. Sometimes I would see a regular customer pull up in the parking lot and I'd have their drink ready by the time they got to the door. The story of how the owner got to where she is is truly a tear jerker. People that helped her out through homelessness and other struggles get free drinks for life. I joined the Army National Guard so I left the coffee shop. I ship out for basic in a few days and the manager is having a company goodbye dinner for me at my favorite restaurant. I love that place so much.

Cool that if you find a coffee you like from there, it will be exactly the same every time you order it no matter the location.

i like that they just talk like normal people. don’t try to raise the pitch of their voice to make you feel welcomed, they just talk to you like people

If Starbucks used those machines, they would have the customers do the work and would still ask for a tip.

This is actually a big brain move on their part. Happy costumers and happy employees. 😎👍

This is why I strike up conversations with customers at my Taco Bell. It usually does wonders for the vibe of the place. You won't believe how much a simple "Long day?" can just light up a person's face.

as an australian i literally gasped in horror mouth over my hand like a scandalised 1930s housewife when they showed the automatic coffee machine

That was always my motto for hiring, whether it was when I was a retail manager or an IT manager. I hire for mostly personality because you can always teach skills. I wanna say 9/10 hires worked out for that reason :)

People are generally nicer when their needs are being met and they feel safe and comfortable in their jobs. Hopefully this company treats their employees well.

This is absolutely true. I went to one of those coffee shops in London and the girl who took my older was dancing to Fred again and was so happy to be alive 😂 she was awesome!!!!

As an Asian, it's so counterintuitive because for good food, most Asians are okay with shitty place and shitty servers. That's how much of foodies we are.
