Extend Your Newborn's Naps With This One Simple Change

There's one really simple, quick change you can make that will instantly improve newborn sleep by getting them to take longer naps. Most parents don't even realize that often they are inadvertently causing their newborn to wake sooner than they need to. In this video you'll learn what this change is and how you can implement it right away for better newborn sleep.

The key to understanding why this works is understanding how newborn sleep is different from our sleep as adults. A baby's brain is developing at a rapid pace, and as a result their sleep behaviors and patterns are still developing and changing as well.

In the video you'll learn why this aspect of newborn sleep is so important, and how to accommodate for that next time your baby takes a nap.

If you're struggling with your newborn baby waking frequently and taking short naps, this video might be exactly what you need!

Definitely made that mistake with my daughter as a FTM and payed the price later. Started doing this with my son since he was born and it's made a world of difference! Yes it could also be related to their individual differences but I know my behaviors were encouraging certain sleep patterns.

Great information. It took me 2 months to figure this out. Now, my little one is 3 months old.

Fortunately, we realize this with our son quite early. He would full on cry in his sleep, but we would watch on the monitor until his eyes were open for more than just a few seconds. The number of times we almost went into the room thinking he was awake some mornings was ridiculous. Kid was an expert at gaslighting at just 3 weeks!

Great video, thanks! How long does it usually take them to link sleep cycles? My little guy (4 months old) will sometimes squirm in his crib and it is hard to tell if he's up or still going to sleep for longer.

Thanks for the information... My 1month old baby doesn't like to sleep on the bed during the day or at night unless you carry him. What can I do

We quickly (yes, before "guidelines") switched to a floor bed (because bending to slowly and precisely lay a sleeping baby down in a crib for a short person weak after birth was a no go, and he'd end up sleeping in our bed and on the couch anyways) in the room right next to our bedroom.
Allowing him sleep peacefully in a different room has helped tremendously both of our sleeps. I'd wake up when baby got between his sleep cycles and my arousal would wake him up. Now if I jerk awake, I wait for a couple of minutes (or more like half an hour hahhah) and if he's calm and quiet, I assume he's sleeping and return to sleep.
