How To Put Your Baby To Sleep, According To 'The Baby Whisperer'

Показать описание
Dr. Harvey Karp, also known as "The Baby Whisperer," explains how to put your baby to sleep using his five S's. This involves swaddling the baby, providing gentle white noise, and rocking the child. By doing this you are imitating the womb, which helps the baby to fall asleep.

"babies are born three months before they're really ready for the world"
To be fair I was born twenty years ago and I'm still not ready

Watching this as I rock my second baby, who is 9 days old now. With my first I was wired and always trying to control everything. I regret this. With this one I'm giving us both time to adjust. I eat, rest and get help.. I'm glad when baby sleeps, but not obsessed by it. I plan my say around my babies, calm my mind & just be. Love and prayers to all parents out there - we have a most important job.

The problem isn't *getting* them to sleep, its *keeping* them asleep.

That baby was more relaxed than I’ve been in like eight years

I'll save you all a lot of time and say put your fussy newborn in a wrap carrier on your chest and go about your day. They hear your heartbeat, are snug up against you, and your walking around is exactly what they experienced in the womb. Has worked with all 4 of my kids without fail! Good luck parents💜

I’ve watched his video “the happiest baby on the block” it’s helped so much, our baby girl loves white noise and to be swaddled up, it calms her right down

The swaddling recommendation in this saved my wife and I last night. Our newborn was irritable from colic and his technique with the arms down allowed my son to calm down and sleep all night and almost immediately post feeding. He usually stats awake and has had trouble relaxing post feeding and then post diaper change. This is my new go to for the foreseeable future

Seriously nothing is more amazing than a newborn! Hard work and all they're so adorable, tiny, and innocent.

My baby always hated being swaddled!! She wouldn’t stop squirming until she got her hands out 🤣 she was born at 36w5d, I couldn’t believe how she was so tiny yet so determined!

All of these steps were followed and put a hysterical baby to sleep within 5-10 minutes. Amazing!!.

Have raised 10 newborns, and THIS is SO important and true. Some don't need all five S's but other need them all in the extreme to settle. Babies love swaddling. Never met a baby swaddled correctly with the five S's who didn't benefit from it. They will sleep SO much longer if you swaddle them.

When I was a baby I cried myself to sleep, 25 years later I still do.

As a nine month along pregnant lady, I totally get why they are “born early”

This guy writes a book ‘the happiest baby on the block’ and it’s legit the best book I ever read, when I was a new mom I followed everything he said and my kid (and kids thereafter) slept like rocks from early on.
I recommend the book to everyone!

Swinging? Don't do it guys. If the baby gets used to it you are screwed. It won't stop crying before you start swinging 😂

the best relax for a baby is the embrace of his mother, bc they hear the same heart pulse when he was inside
