Ross Hauser, MD explains how monitoring HRV can be a helpful way to see how a person's vagal tone and overall health is improving or declining. This is an objective test we have some patients monitor at home and we have a more comprehensive version that we can do in-office.

I’m a runner and workout also with weights. My HRV is tracking downward. I do have anxiety but manage it. Also be to the cardiologists and everything seems to be ok. My VOX2 max is in the high 40s.

I’m a highly active person and I’m athletic, I never get sick, I have a low resting heart rate as well. My Apple Watch tracks my sleep and I consistently get from 41-58 hrv readings

Your website is by far the most helpful to me so far. Extremely relevant to my undiagnosed condition. Although, i am hearing a lot of discussion regarding vagis nerve stimulation and a mere mention of an overstimulated vagus caising bradycardia. I occasionally get hit with a low heart rate alongside symptoms like dizziness and overactive digestive, hot foot, etc. Usually clears up over a couple days. I'm a 6w5 living with anxiety. How does one prevent a proneness to overactive vagus nerve? That's what I'm looking to find out. Lifestyle change?

Can you recommend a heart rate variability monitor that people can use at home?

Interesting thanks for sharing I have been diagnosed with Hashimotos since 2015 and now they think I have a 2nd auto immune. I have been measuring my heart rate variations using the Welltory app in my Apple Watch. It seems like most of the time my heart rate variation is very low. But it does say my sympathetic nervous system is overdrive pretty much always. And it usually says that my workouts wipe me out.

I'm Iin my mid 40s, run and cycle 5 times a week and was a (slow) timetrialist before lockdown. My HRV bounces between 20 and 35. I very RARELY trend above 40. This has been the case since mid 2019 when I first started tracking.

I get the impression I'm setting myself up for some serious illness.

I have a basal HRV of between 18ms and 28ms. 30 years old, physically healthy etc. Should I be worried?

I been measuring mine and had noticed that it gets low when I’m upright and is high when I’m laying down

What is a good HRV? I'm working on getting EDS dx, and I believe I may have CCI, but my PCP is not well versed in EDS, let alone the related comorbidities. I recently had a holter monitor test that showed sinus tach, but PCP says that doesn't explain the dizziness that I'm experiencing. When I asked for a referral for spinal specialist for imaging, she instead sent me to a chiropractor. 🙄

Thanks, maybe I do need to get an spinal alignment. I degenerative disc disease and osteoarthritis. I've chronic headaches. When I got into a confrontation I twisted my neck. The next day after the severe head pressure I was blowing blood chunks. Sometimes if I move my neck wrong my face gets real itchy like all over. Chronic headaches ear pain eye pain. Lower lumbar sciatic nerve I walk a lot. They have me on government support, but I feel like a prisoner. Thanks for doing your job and your research take care sir.

Have you looked at GERD and HRV? I'm sure that it's affecting mine since the only time it's normal is when I fast for a full day or two, and it's terrible at night. I run, eat healthy, and I'm not a high stress person, so I'm questioning the overall accuracy when GERD is present. Any insights?

Hi. I'm from Bangladesh. I have a friend who is having severe gut issues for last one and half year. Now we are in India for her treatment. She has lost 13kgs in just one year. Her stomach intestines are not contracting at all. She can't eat anything. None of the doctors could find out her problem. We have watched all of your videos. We can't go to your country. We want to do video consultation with yoy. Is this possible? How can i get you? Please let us know. Please help us. She is suffering a lot.

My HRV for today is 13 ms according to my Apple Watch, and my average is about 28, I’m 32 and other than anxiety I haven’t been diagnosed with anything physically, I’ve been to a cardiologist twice, I’m kinda freaking out about my low HRV, is this something that I can improve on? I’m also on a beta blocker for my tachycardia.
