This was really helpful as I prepare to do the same thing! Question: You removed the edge tape, sanded the area, and then used gorilla glue and brad nailed what exactly - the MDF? Because then you put a bigger baseboard on. Sorry! Just want to get mine flush too and didn't follow this part very well. Thanks for any help!

freakin awesome.. 2 questions: why didn't you:
1. go for the top extenders on the side bookcases to make it flush with the ceiling?
2. use any trim to finish off the shelf fronts (i.e. to make look thicker like the vertical walls)
Thank you!

Great video. Did you use 2x4s or 1x4s for the header frame? From several angles it looks like 1x4s

U gotta sand the laminate aggressively. Use cabinet primer, for “glossy surfaces”. Lowe’s has it, then whatever paint u like. I guarantee u had issues with paint chipping off or pealing, just even by moving things around on the shelves. Paint itself will not bond to laminate. This was hell for me.

Why oh why oh why would leave it short of the ceiling. You just created an unsightly dust trap. This would kill me if it was my job
