25% is a slap in the face. In the last 16 years, the cost of living in Seattle has more than doubled, yet the machinists pay has mostly been stagnant. They would get raises that were just a few percentage points (because their last contract could not have accounted for the Amazon effect to the cost of living). They need the 40% raise just to break even.

All of these issues are Boeing's fault and not that of it's workforce. This is what happens when everything is mismanaged top down!

The proposed contract promised a 25% pay increase over four years, but with the removal of existing benefits, the effective raise amounts to just around 10%. Given the inflation rate of 2.5%, this translates to minimal real wage growth. Additionally, Boeing employees have been subjected to consistently unrealistic target dates and intense pressure, with quality standards being lowered to boost production rates. For example, a 2020 report by the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure revealed that Boeing had reduced safety oversight and compromised on quality controls to meet production deadlines. This compromise led to significant issues, including the tragic crashes of the 737 MAX. Meanwhile, executives like Dave Calhoun received a 45% salary increase despite these ongoing problems. This strike is about more than just the numbers; it's a demand for fair treatment and sustainable, long-term improvements that benefit everyone, addressing both financial and operational issues.

Good, maybe Boeing can replace and find better assemblers, so parts don't fall off, after getting rid of their CEO.

Poor timing really. Boeing is taking hits from all sides and now the people that need Boeing the most jump in and start kicking them too. They should be focusing on producing a better product and saving the company.

Maybe if the workers built a reliable product you would get a decent pay raise. Maybe Boeing should go out of business.

Doors are falling off mid flight and they want a raise.

Boeing needs to move to Texas or Florida if they want to survive
