I contrast the differing views on whether children should be baptized. Pedobaptism argues that children of believers should be baptized in order to be identified with the new covenant community. Credobaptism argues that believers alone should be baptized.

Good video. I feel the biblical case for credobaptism is much stronger but think that you did a good job of articulating the pedobaptism position. Love the new format. Much easier to follow.

Good arguments from both sides. Credobaptism has a stronger biblical basis for me, especially in light of the fact that nothing we do can compel God to do anything, for he alone is sovereign in the dispensation of his grace. Our baptizing babies cannot force God to save them, although his desire is save all people through Jesus Christ his Son.

Wow, that was really very good and fair to both views.

I feel like covenant with the Lord is a continuous rather than a discrete phenomenon. The Bible contains clear reference to the fact that a person's descendants may be blessed or cursed on account of their forebears relationship with the Lord. It is nothing a person cannot change by having a relationship themselves with Him. I firmly believe that Jesus died for the whole world's sins and that every person on Earth exists in covenant, believer or otherwise. God's promise is to all. Baptism is a celebration of that covenant relationship, and a person can and should celebrate as often as they find it meaningful. A covenant is an agreement both parties agree on. God will make any covenant with you, as He did with many people in the Bible. It does not have to be a Christian religion, although obviously Jesus is the best teacher and exemplar of God's wishes for humanity. Religion is the characterization of a person's alignment with the divine and there are many rituals and celebrations handed down by the Lord the world over.

This is a great debate. 👍🏼 It's one of those SHARP questions with only 1 answer known only by God himself. Hence a GREAT debate topic/material for the pupils of christ, us.

I found the paedobaptism side more convincing based on Hebrews 6:4-6, Hebrews 10:29-31, and John 15:1-8. Although false professors aren’t saved, those passages seem to say they are connected to Jesus & the New Covenant in some fashion. I believe it’s a visible, external fashion. They’re externally connected to Christ & holy (visibly set apart by baptism) but not saved. So the paedo side seems more convincing to me.

I believe that pedobaptism flows from a covenants theology that understands that Moses is not Abraham. If you are a son of Abraham then hou are Abraham’s son.
