$6250 annual premium cost as shown as an example in this video for original Medicare + Supplement + Part D drug plan, would be comparable (or even more, in some cases) to the maximum annual out-of-pocket copay liability for many Advantage plans, which would still have the annual Medicare Part B premium cost of $2100.

So in the example above, the Medicare Advantage enrollee will spend $2100 annually, if they do not use any medical services in a given year, whereas the Original/Plan G Supplement/Part D enrollee will spend $6250 if they use no medical services during the year. In a bad year, assuming an average max out-of-pocket of $6000 for the Advantage enrollee, their out-of-pocket cost exposure for the year would be $8100 (Part B premium + out-of-pocket copay cap). The Medicare/Plan G Supplement/Part D enrollee would have a maximum cost exposure of $6490 (adding the Part B annual deductible). So the difference in maximum annual cost exposure in this example would be the Advantage enrollee is exposed to $1610 more cost.

So I think it demonstrates why, despite the drawbacks and limitations, someone might choose Advantage over the original Medicare route. I believe the experience relayed in this video is from Florida, which has some of the highest-cost Medicare Supplements in the country. What is best for the enrollee really boils down to personal situation and geographic location. There is no one-size-fits-all.
