This is a real eye opener. Wish I had done more research before I signed up for advantage plan. Thanks so much, you are performing a genuine public service.

Just when people are old and sick, they may have to make these major decisions about how to get help. Insanity. Give health care for all without pitfalls as mentioned. No other country has this issue-- people have health care-period.

This video deserves review and attention. The information is nearly complete and easy to understand due to the clear presentation.Perhaps another edition could also highlight the handful of states that, by law, permit transfer from Medicare Advantage to Medicare Supplement plans after state residency is established (with or without medical underwriting)). Anyway, great video!. Thank you.

My wife has had a supplement for many years. This year we're changing to a UNH PPO Advantage Plan because it's ZERO premium and there's no risk. She can go back to the G supplement at anytime during the 12 months. No underwriting even though she had cancer once.

Thanks Erik! Great resource for those who question when and why they can change their Advantage plan to a Supplemental Plan.

After watching this entire video twice I realized I laughed both times when you said "You probably know more about switching than you wanted too". Actually we will never get tired of hearing awesome information. I see this channel continuing to grow as more people find it and love the wealth of informative information you put out there. It got me to thinking too, as I am in great health, but what if out of the blue I wasn't. It does happen to the healthiest people. The first disease I thought of was cancer. Then I saw you just did a video on cancer. I cannot wait to watch it. Thanks for all you do to help the aging population make better choices concerning medicare. Great Job!

This is a great explanation of how it all works. I am an insurance broker and NO, we don't all want to switch everybody to advantage plans.

So glad I found this channel….someone who is just giving facts for both sup and ad. I have subscribed. I started Medicare in January of 2023 at age 65. I retired from a large aerospace company that provides post retiree medical. I had to use the supplemental plan (only choice I had) in order to continue coverage for my spouse. So far so good with the supplemental. The company just dropped a bomb telling us retirees that the supplemental is going away in favor of an Advantage PPO with extended service area (all across the US) and the ability to use out of network doctors. This sounds good but my biggest concern (based on family history) is a big health issue of some type coupled with “pre-approval” delays or worse denials. Your video helped me understand that my scenario allows me to switch back to a supplemental. Of course that would mean dropping out of my companies plan which requires me to find a sup plan PLUS look for a new plan for my spouse (who is 5 years away from Medicare). ReLly don’t like the way my company is forcing me into this change. Long winded but thank you again!

This answered my #1 Medicare question - can I move out of the MA coverage area and return to regular Medicare with supplements. Thank you for the straightforward answer.

Great content on countering a lot of biased and even false information.

So far the most clear talking about Medicare I’ve watched. Thank you very much. I shared your channel with my friends ❤

Great information. Most of the time I have seen want to switch from an Advantage plan is when they have had some sort of incident that required a hospitalization. And then got hit with having to pay for some time before the plan started covering the costs. We decided to bypass that and just start with Original Medicare and supplements. Still way cheaper than what we paid as self-employed for individual health insurance prior to being eligible for Medicare.

Again very helpful. Thank you! It's such a maze of information. I mean why make it straight forward? That would make too much sense! :-)

It's important to note that trial rights and guaranteed issue rights do not necessarily apply to all supplement plans. Typically, when switching from an initial enrollment advantage plan to a supplement plan during your trial period, Plan G is guaranteed issue while Plan N is not. Also, in non-IEP trial right situations, you can only go back to the exact same supplement plan that you previously had, not any supplement plan.

Hi Erik. Just to let you know how us folks appreciate all the great content you have provided to us and take the time to answer all of our questions. I, for one, decided to go with an Advantage plan. But, I still have some doubts, as it worries me like if I were to go back home on vacation and get sick or an injury, and have to go to an area hospital, then there would not be any type of medical coverage at all with this plan. Is this correct?

Thx for your calm and measured informative videos. I've been searching for this information and it is limited. Living in NY and in a high priced county, I thought there was some protection when switching... I was hunting for the regulation, but haven't stumbled upon it.
