It’s actually really smart that they named The Order Of The Stone in Story Mode after a really early version

Notch didn't just pop the concept out of nowhere. He played another game called Infiniminer.

Notch even admitted that Infiniminer was a big inspiration for Minecraft. Especially with it's similar cube world and terrain generation.
Don't forget the Impact Infiniminer from Zachtronics had on it.
