I was staying in a hotel once and left my room to go to the pool. When I returned, housekeeping had cleaned but also took a MASSIVE DUMP that stunk up the whole hallway and had my entire room smelling like the confines of a disesed horse's anus. I'm still angry about it.

Perhaps if you were sharing a room and you didn't want you significant other to know your business or rooming with a co worker for a conference or something like that you'd go in the lobby bathroom so you dont stink up your room.

I rather use the room bathroom. Growing up I hated using public toilet because I always found it unhygienic. To this day no one ever uses the same toilet as me in my house. It happens but not so much.

Oh my goodness… I did this once. 17 years ago, I was dating my husband who I met on e-Harmony. We lived several states apart while dating. Once it became serious, we would meet up at a nice hotel in between the two places. I was VERY shy about that kind of thing, and a shared room just has one bathroom. You don’t know if they are going to go in right after you come out!! Lol. If I’m tense, I usually have no need to go, but one time it was inevitable because we spent a couple days together, So I said I was getting something from the vending machines and used the lobby area bathrooms. If I’m alone in a hotel room, I’d have no problem using the room bathroom. But I suspect my reason might be the most common reason This happens lol

I have to confess I did it like this when I travelled with some friends I shared a room with. I was on a trip for a week so holding in until home wasn't an option. The room was tiny and everyone could hear anything that happened in the bathroom. I just can't take my business when I know others can hear everything. I just can't relax and get constipated. The public bathroom was very clean and I never saw another person in this bathroom when I was there. So it was a good solution for me.

Yes, if we are traveling with others. I've traveled with friends before, men and women, and we all agree to do this in order to have one less thing to squabble about.

I went to China in university as part of a language/culture exchange.
One thing that I learned very quickly while I was there was that it was a terrible idea to poop in the european style dorm toilets. Even a couple squares of toilet paper would clog them. (Side note: On that trip, I developed some serious plunging skills that have come in very handy now that I am a parent.)
So, anyway, I, and pretty much everyone else in the dorm, developed the habit of using the toilets in the classroom buildings (They were squatty potties.) for anything other than pee.

As a female, no thank you. If I have to do that outside of my own house, I go to the most private spot I can. If I’m in a hotel that’s my hotel room, not the public one. I’m always afraid someone’s going to knock and scare the stuff back in. 😅🤣
