Already being experienced with micing I knew all this, but this is a very good short way of explaining it to those who are new. I think you should have also discussed the angle of the mic to the speaker cone as that can be unintuitive with certain mic types.

I use two ... one SM57 and a second Royer 121 ( or any ribbon) moved around to a sweet spot. Check your in phase. Pan one hard left the other hard left and mix the two accordingly in your DAW, you will be happier with the results rather than using one mic.

Thank you I have the smaller version of the same amp and I had a god the other day so I placed my mic exactly in the middle of the speaker and it was really bright sounding so this is very good info for sure

Unless youre using your phone, android to record, then its gonna sound like crap regardless.
