hongkonger (who studied in lithuania for a semester) currently in amsterdam here, just went to a cantonese restaurant that my mom had gone to 30 years ago. as a student travelling on a tight budget, you're definitely right about "the price of nostalgia" hahah; although if you visit europe in the future, i can heartily recommend amsterdam's chinatown for genuine authentic cantonese food

people definitely talk to you different if you reveal that you know cantonese; one time i ordered fish ball noodles in malaysia and the chef immediately got a lot friendlier when he heard that we speak cantonese. keep up the good work! your pronunciation sounded pretty solid in the short

I have this one Chinese restraunt that used to be really close to my home ( I moved ) whenever my parents had a movie night or any special day at home we would go there order it and take it home to eat. Just like you said it wasn’t anything special but the taste has always been and always will be nostalgic 🥹.
