Its so much easier to just do windowed, 1920 or whatever ur native is. Fill and then just change ur res in ur settings to what u want. Make sure ur nvidia control panel says fullscreen like he says and ur set. If u dont like the bars on the top and bottom just use winexp

His old tutorial worked and is not as tedious and it even worked with winxp
