I've always felt once football starts, the comic market slows. People have bought what they've wanted, the summer block busters are done and sports betting and FFL are on the brain. Then spring comes and we all want comics again.

I've had to restart my collection several times, always bigger, better, stronger. Does that make losing it tougher, sure, but I've also started to build part of my collection to sell if I ever have to. Money has been tight my whole life, I try and collect like you say in a way to make the hobby fund itself, but I'm also a comic artist, so the two aren't always mutually exclusive. I could conceivably get rid of everything save one slab which has just too much love and sentiment, and still needs a couple more sigs. 😜

Stagflation happened in the 1970's. Would someone have recommended that they sell Action Comics #1, AF #15 or DC $27? NO!! Now what books I think someone should sell or any/all variants and any short run Indies books (stop waiting for movies or streaming shows). Keep books that are characters that will be a part of the industry moving forward (UF#4, SPAWN, Strange Academy, Killadelphia, imo).

I’m not sure where Deloitt got the info on gas. Yes the prices at the pump are down but here in NJ natural gas prices are going up between 16-24% depending on ur provider eff 10/1.

Good advice Regie! Everyone’s circumstances are different and the way your finances are structured will dictate the best approach during this period. The one piece of advice I would give to anyone looking to sell off, is still stay in the hobby and read on something like marvel unlimited, dc universe, library etc. That way you are still engaged and when the time comes you can start your collection again.

thanks for another cool video! revisiting the stagflation years, inflation was coupled with high unemployment. right now, we have "full" employment. But as inflation eats away discretionary a large number of collectors will be affected. these people could be looking for more affordable books, or not buy for awhile. since none of us have a crystal ball, it is left up to the individual. My books sat around for years (about 25!) before I began selling again. I believe the market will continue to adjust to the spike many books experienced in 2020-2021 and the number of books available (thanks again, Regie for keeping us informed on the number of books being submitted to cgc.)

If you have positioned yourself well financially, now may be the time to buy.

Dump your comics? NO WAY. Never sell in a down market, unless you have no other option. Trends will change, be patient. In fact, you should be buying when prices are down.

If people are selling, keep your eye out for the bargains. The market always rebounds in time anyway, and prices can get a lot higher later on. Keep your Gem Keys. Sell the 'Hot' stuff which might cool down once the show becomes history after a few years.

I started selling off my collection. Not because I need the money, but because I’m running out of room 😂 I’m definitely starting to pare down my buying and save more to buy a bigger key next year.

Its a totally different game going to conventions now. The big books are not there. Dealers are not willing to take huge hits for grails. Its a buyers market but the return on your investments could be years and years away. Freaking scary man

Great video. Things do feel different for sure. I’m not selling off, but the crunch has changed my spending. Ever dollar is evaluated now. Maybe that’s a good thing.

Always love your stuff man. One of the few comic channels i hope keeps getting bigger…. Here’s a good one, because I see that daredevil behind you. That is a book I personally say hold on to, especially if you own a grade like that or higher and possibly signed by a certain someone. With that in mind what are some of the absolute books you would hold onto no matter what if things went the way of the 90’s with comics? Also when you mention ahead of the curve. What if your so far ahead of the curve it actually hurts you, how do you personally pull yourself back so your catching it at the right point and not falling behind it. Is their a certain percentage of a rise in price, is it when a trailer or news drops? Been out of the game for a bit and a spit and finding it hard to get back into the swing of things. Any suggestions or advice would be great in a new video or something man.

I've pretty much stagnated on buying at this point. Mainly because I sell stuff to buy, and selling has basically stopped for me at this point.

Just shows to me that it's not just the comic market slowing down (obviously). "things are tough all over"

Almost everyday I contemplate selling about 90% of my slabs. And using the money to play in the stock market. At least there I can play the market both ways up or down

i'm happy with my collection. I've already sold the ones I don't want. Didn't take a loss but didn't get top dollar. oh well.
