“It’s a whole lot of nonsense but sometimes it works” that’s some crazy science

If I miss a single week of working abs, they will IMMEDIATELY cramp after my first set. Their disloyalty hurts me the most lol

While potassium in the cell allows for relaxation, not so much in the blood stream. Magnesium and calcium WHILE IN THE BLOOD, are actually more useful for stopping or preventing cramps. That’s why some people find relief with pickle juice, since the pickling salts are magnesium and calcium based. That’s also part of the magnesium in high doses is used to treat women with preeclampsia, people with lung issues, and a host of other medical issues. Your magnesium level also allows you to absorb more potassium and thereby more relaxation as that potassium in the cell and not in the blood.

If this Short ended after "Holy sh*t" that would've been hilarious.

For those who are interested in the topic, Dr Rohin Francis made an awesome video titled “What actually ARE muscle cramps?” on his channel ‘Medlife Crisis’. It’s a really good watch!

Cramping definitely feels like an "overextension". If I stretch really hard I can feel a cramp coming on and stop before it hits. It's like your muscle is flexing and twisting on itself uncontrollably

Magnesium helped me minimize the cramps. No idea if there's actual extensive evidence for it.

No matter how hydrated I am, I cramp every day. I climb trees and once my hands start to cramp close I know it's quitting time.

Fun fact: I'm a type 1 diabetic and when your blood glucose level is significantly higher than it should be, your muscles get tired quicker and what I've noticed is that I can get muscle cramps way earlier than I usually would if at all. Is it just muscle being more tired or is there any high blood glucose in the bloodstream fueling the muscles - impact? Would be cool to understand it some day. Obviously it's not recommended to do this physical activity when having high blood glucose - rather wait till it levels a bit after insulin. But in real life they may happen.

That's a citation in the video! Can not believe! Mr. Mike, you are getting scientific here. I like that.

My inner thigh muscles would cramp at night while asleep after a day of hauling firewood through the snow, felt like my groin was being ripped apart, worse muscle pain I've ever felt, definitely overworked them

I get muscle cramps often and almost always when a muscle is strongly contracted in a fully shortened position

I was diagnosed with CKD 6 years ago and the funny thing is I used to have really bad leg cramps, but they completely disappeared after I started taking blood pressure meds.
Those leg cramps were getting bad too: several times randomly throughout the week and guaranteed on leg day.

In my experience adding potassium when I’m already cramping doesn’t do a thing but if I take regular supplements for basically every vitamin/mineral I can work out very hard with little to no cramping for days on end. Obviously this is anecdotal but my guess is cramping has to do with being short in a variety of different things at once plus the intense exercise.

I mixv50/50 pedialyte and water and add a tablespoon of honey, and I don't cramp, and I don't get sick doing legs anymore. The not cramping may have NOTHING to do with the drink. But I think leg day nausea was glucose related.

I get cramps exclusively in my left calf. I don't understand it one bit, but that's how it is

In my experience it's been salt and regular water.
I do contract work that involves working 16 hours of manual labor every single day for months at a time. If I salt my food and drink lots of water I get the occasional cramp but nothing wild. If I miss out on either it's a virtual guarantee that I'll get cramps that night.

But that's just an anectdote anyways.

Spot on!! I was getting the worst night cramps last year. I took a bunch of magnesium, increased my water intake and the whole shabang and nothing worked. I was working myself pretty hard then. This year, I'm not hitting the same muscles as frequently and I'm getting fat fewer night cramps.

I can get it in the inner thigh, calf and quads. At night when I relax. Hurts so damn bad. Comes outta nowhere.
