Solution:
xy=35
x=35/y
x²-y²=24
(x+y)(x-y)=24
(x+y)=24/(x-y)
Substituting x
35/y + y = 24/(35/y)-y
After simplification we get the equation as
y⁴+24y²-1225=0
Let y²=z
Then the equation becomes
z²-24z-1225=0
On simplification we get
z=25, -49
This implies that y=5 as it can't be √-49( an imaginary number)
xy=35
Thus x = 7
Hence x=7 and y=5
Therefore,
x+y=12
