Last year I switched to iphone and ipad, and this year switched to apple tv. I don't see myself doing a full switch to macos but I'd like a Mac system to mess with and honestly for 600 I'm tempted to get the new Mac mini. My biggest problem is the cost to expand it from factory, and even than storage expansion can be handled with external drives.

The base 16 gb M4 is a $200 price reduction from the base 8 gb M2 model.

Upgrading from a late 2015 iMac i7 32 GB to the Mac mini M4 base model. Primary use is music production using Cubase 13 pro (Rock, Synthwave). I guess that's a bit of an upgrade, huh?

My personal view is they made it thicker for one simple reason; airflow through it.

Hey hey, can you make like a three tier set up for the Mac mini somewhat like a budget a mid range and a high-end set up with desk and chair, maybe but definitely monitor our keyboard mouse, etc. yeah this is all good with it being $600 but how much do you have to spend to get a real good quality set up out of it.

For the price, it is the best value mini-PC. Yes, not all games and some work apps/software don't run on it. Fortunately, all the main non-work-related apps/software run on it and all the creator work apps run on it.

Next best competition on the market: Geekom A8 with the Ryzen 7 CPU for value, and BeeLink SER9 for CPU multi-core power in a mini-PC.
