Add decent keyboard and mouse $100 (at least) nice 4K monitor $500, $30 speakers, $10 SD card reader, $50 for an external SSD with 512GB, you’ll end up paying almost $1300, unless you already have all of the peripherals the Base MacBook Pro is very much worth it, for $300 more you’ll have a very portable and capable laptop with all day battery life and a 120hz mini LED display, so yeah not a very good advice here, unless you don’t need to move your computer at all.

The Mac mini is a good deal….but remember it has no display, no keyboard, no trackpad, and 256gb storage on the base model. After you buy all pf those things it really isn’t much cheaper… especially if you buy Apple products. The mouse/trackpad and keyboard are $300, $200 for the storage upgrade, and forget about getting the $1500 apple display

Mmm its hard to ignore the keyboard etc unless you already have them.
If you stick to Apple, it's $200 to get to 512 GB. Apple display is $1500. Keyboard & Mouse is $300.
It is fair to note that there are much cheaper non-Apple stuff.

Even if you use the laptop as your desktop primarily, you have the flexibility to grab it and go.

Well, my 2017 MacBook Pro’s screen went out this month. It cost the same as the latest M4 MacBook Pro to fix. Upon purchasing the M4 last night, I saved $253 at time if purchase with $150 cash back. So I am ecstatic about my upgrade…. Base level or not. If the base model is this good, I’ll definitely be purchasing a more custom model in a few months.

Mobility is a very big benefit than having it stationary. I can bring it overseas and use it in an airport during a stop and even bring it with you in the kitchen.

I also have a mac mini as my first, and i dont see a problem having two machines. I use macmini for extensive work like copying large datas so i dont wear my macbooks battery and ssd.

So get both, but mobility is way too beneficial

Why I bought the Macbook M4 pro ( base model chip). I plan to do laser shows for edm raves/festivals( i currently do small shows) I am constantly running around with the production team. I think the portability is perfect for me. Allthough saving 1k does sound nice
