And yet he is alive. Many thanks to all who risked theirs to get to all the people stranded.

One young lady lost her life. Condolences to the family.

Glad everyone else was either rescued or made it out safely.

They rain or water is needed. Please be safe everyone.

I’ve hiked to the little town Supai, then hiked down the creek to Navajo Falls, then to Havasu Falls, and to Mooney falls once in the fall and twice in the early to mid-spring. I’d never go in the summer months for so many reasons. Glad most people made it out. Condolences to the family who lost a loved one.

He went during the " monsoon" season which is a big "NO-NO", because of heavy rainfall; best time to go is April-May; or end of Sept- October.

It is wonderful that he is still alive. A heartfelt thank you to all those who were so brave and willing to sacrifice themselves to help those trapped. Their sacrifice and courage are admirable, and we must never forget their contributions.

Crazy! Almost exactly the same as our story from Oct 2003... ironically I am Laurie and my ex- husband's name was Cory. We camped near Mooney falls, started raining right after we set up camp (0% chance of rain)... local came down and told us to move to higher ground... back to village and choppered out hours later. I also remember seeing all the mules stranded and the trails flooding out. Glad all are safe!

In Skywest’s defense, fuel is extremely expensive and $100 would probably not even cover their costs. It would be wonderful if everyone could donate in times of need like this, but sometimes people do not have the means to do so.

Twice this guy has had to be rescued? Who else had to be rescued from a cave, from rock climbing, from being washed out to sea on an inner tube, breaking down in the desert with no water, or getting lost in the woods? People that put themselves at risk should have to pay the costs for their rescue.

Why shouldn't they charge to be air lifted out of there? They are using their resources, time helicopter and fuel. Seems planning ahead would have been a good idea. If there is any chance of rain, you don't go. I am surprised they let the mules be rented becaise of the weather. The blackhawks are amazing crafts. I love to see them flying over. This was good practice for them also. I am so glad they all made it out of there. I hope they can find the missing person.

All that mud in the water too is so dangerous

Lesson learned I hope. Don't ever Camp on a Riverbank.
Your supposed to be 50 ft from the waters edge in any National Forest. Unless it's Designated by the US Forest Service as a Camp Area.

Quite apart from its being monsoon season, I can't imagine going to the Grand Canyon when it's 110 degrees out!

The Canyon officials will tell you, if u inquire prior to going, when yhe best rimes are to visit Grand Canyon. A travel agent will do the same. Stop going when the conditions are not recommended. I know because i had this info feom these sources. The guided tours also explsin that the Canyon has its own weather system snd ut behooves one to know this. I learned a great deal. Also, i didnot go into the Grand Canyon. I saw it at numerous points FROM THE RIM!
