Petroglyphs are ancient writings carved in stone and left by ancient civilizations. They can be found around the world including in the United States. They tell the stories of people who survived thousands of years before European settlers arrived. But their own survival is now threatened. Kris Van Cleave has the story.

“CBS Saturday Morning” co-hosts Jeff Glor, Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson deliver two hours of original reporting and breaking news, as well as profiles of leading figures in culture and the arts.

There's no way that rock climber that it was graffiti. 🙄 Typical weak excuse to deflect any potential legal blowback when someone gets caught.

It probably isn’t possible to move all of them to secure locations, but it might be possible to move some. For others, it probably is possible to place in penetrable shielding of some type in front of them. It would be expensive and it would disrupt the natural scenery, but it would protect them. I think education can prevent some people from harming them, but we will always have a certain number of sociopaths who care nothing about other living things, much less history.
