This is Your United States Air Force Band

September 24th, 1941 marked the date of the letter that ordered the activation of the United States Army Air Force Bands! This War Department document created 59 AAF Bands nationwide with wartime objectives of bolstering morale for citizens and troops alike, providing support to Presidential functions, and honoring our nation’s fallen. Today, The USAF Band in Washington, DC is the only unit to have existed continuously in its original location (Bolling Air Force Base), and its mission has carried through the decades. 79 years later, we still proudly represent all Airmen, whose selfless service and sacrifices ensure the freedoms we enjoy as American citizens.
