The Army Song, performed by The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" and The U.S. Army Chorus. This is the short version of the song.

LYRICS:

Verse:
March along, sing our song, with the Army of the free.
Count the brave, count the true, who have fought to victory.
We’re the Army and proud of our name!
We’re the Army and proudly proclaim:

First Chorus:
First to fight for the right,
And to build the Nation’s might,
And the Army goes rolling along.
Proud of all we have done,
Fighting till the battle’s won,
And the Army goes rolling along.

Refrain:
Then it’s hi! hi! hey!
The Army’s on its way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong;
For where’er we go,
You will always know
That the Army goes rolling along.

When you’re in, you long for the day to get out. When your out, you reminisce like there’s no tomorrow.

I‘m a German soldier and I was at the US Army NCOA in Grafenwöhr last year. At the beginning it was a bit strange that they sung this song and spoke their NCO Creed every morning but after a few days I gave my best to sing and speek with the Americans 😅👌🏼 I really enjoyed the time with those guys. You Americans are definitively brave and proud soldiers 😉 Greetings from a German Engineer 🇩🇪

Watching my fiancé graduate I didn't cry at all until they performed this song. I'm not sure why it brought me to tears but I simply can't get enough of it.

My mom was in the Army, She worked on helicopters. She was in a helicopter crash but lived. They landed in a tree, She broke her jaw, Busted her lip, And broke her arm but she still made it out. Happy veterans day! ❤💭💙

Valley Forge, Custer's ranks,

San Juan Hill and Patton's tanks,

And the Army went rolling along.

Minute men from the start,

Always fighting from the heart,

And the Army keeps rolling along.

I guess I am a bit of an antique. I learned this as "The caissons go rolling along" and "It's Hi, Hi, He of the Field Artillery". I guess it was too specific to be the Army song.

My dad was career Air Force, but I married a man whose Dad was Army, (34 years, ) and my husband also served in the Army. (My brother Tim, and my husband's brother Tim also both served in the Army.) Two of my uncles were Marines. My Dad and my uncles taught me various service songs when I was little. I could sing the Marines Hymn, Off We Go into the Wild Blue Yonder, and the Army Song by the time I got to first grade. But I learned the Army version with the caissons rolling along. In October of 2021, my husband and I attended the burial service of a Major General, a man who had been a decades-long friend to my in-laws and to my husband and I when we were stationed at the same post. His urn was brought in on a horse-drawn caisson. At the end of the service, the chaplain asked that we all sing the Army song. Most of us used the version with the caissons. It still worked, but many were surprised to learn it had been changed.
