Canon EOS R5 ProRes RAW 5k sample (PART 1)

Показать описание
A few seconds clip from Canon R5 ProRes RAW 5k test (24 fps).
Only did conversion from Canon log2 to Rec709 and small tweaks with color balance and saturation. No noise reduction and sharpening applied. The shot was exposed based on false color in Ninja V+.
Some conclusions from my first tests:
- Working with ProRes RAW from R5 (even on base intel MacBook Pro 13) is super easy and quite fluid! (5k and 8k as well) - working with internal R5 H265 codecs is a nightmare...
- Colors from 12 bit RAW are gorgeous!
- If you properly expose log2 footages the noise is not so much visible.
- Dynamic range from Canon log2 seems to be quite good.
- R5 with Ninja V+ combo with crop mode in R5 seems to be fantastic filmmaking tool.
- Working with 8K ProRes RAW is (at least for me) much easier than with internally recorded. More fluid, proper color conversions in FCPX is also much easier and faster. This is more important for me than this 2bit color less...
- During recording short clips no problem with overheating. Please remember that 24 fps in crop mode does not overheat overall.
- For working with Davinci Resolve you can export footages e.g. as a 4444 12bit ProRes with Canon Log2 and color grading will be a great joy there.
- Now I really feel that my R5 is wonderful hybrid tool for advanced video and stills as well.
- I do not like micro HDMI on R5...
Working with R5 ProRes RAW in FCPX:
- WB can be edited with slider. You can input temperature value as well.
- Exposure offset you can edit with slider and value.
If you have any question please let me know.
