I've done something simular to this. 1uz-fe Toyota v8 to 6 speed transmission. designed & made a CNC machined sandwich block. still have the blueprint somewhere

I used their kit on my 2j-cd009 swap, great product. But that shifter was way to notch for me and it was very difficult to find the gears, damn near impossible to find 5th and 6th. I recommend the serial nine shifter, it’s a bit pricey but it’s as smooth as butter and feels damn near stock

even though that gap doesn't matter for the structure and it's all sealed up anyways, i can imagine there will be loads of dirt and grease and whatever getting through there and not being able to clean it... would be nice to seal that up one way or another.
