I was promoted along side another guy at work. Our old supervisor was replaced so another one was brought to the shift. Once the guy I was promoted with, and the new supervisor became friends, the supervisor came to me and said that I needed more training for the position. Although I’m the only one who can do the job independently. He takes the promotion from me, but expects me to help the other guy do the job. So now he always singles me out, and gets mad because I read books regularly and trained in boxing and martial arts. They hate that I’m independent and don’t don’t try to be a follower.

I'm the only black on my job and Caucasians are doing stuff like sabotaging my work. Want move out of the way while I'm trying to do my job. Tell my supervisor and they don't believe me. In fact takes their side. I'm the problem. Something gets stolen after I kept telling supervisors people were snooping around in a area they didn't suppose to be in and nothing was done. Instead I'm the one getting questioned about the stolen item. 13 yrs of working there and nothing have ever gotten stolen. Caucasian people witness things done to me and act like they didn't see anything we asked by the supervisor. Just shows you racism still exists.

I was doing good at a job then all the sudden my new supervisor keeps saying i have a problem with with adherence when im literally on the dialer more than anyone on my team. The I literally see people take longer breaks then me and he never says anything to them. I'm a educated black male with and MBA and he's trying to get his Bachelors and I think thats where his jealousy stems from lol I looked forward to the day where I get promoted to another department or another job God Bless you! 🙏🏿

I’m 20 and worked at a daiso for 3 months and experienced racial favoritism. I was part of a new store set up, so we all spent the first month and a half working full time setting the store up which went alright. I was one of 5 less white employees on the team. The rest were Hispanic. I didn’t think much of this at first. During store set up, the manager and other Hispanic would speak Spanish. This made me feel left out. But I still didn’t think much of it since we were all working the same amount of time. Then once we opened, things went downhill. The Hispanic employees got way more hours than me and the two other white employees did. Especially the employees who made friends with the store manager during store setup. And majority of the time they just spoke Spanish to each other except when they were talking to me or the customers. No one ever said anything mean or racist to my face, but I could tell there was racial favoritism. And when I quit no one even said anything to me about it. I got no response to my two weeks notice email and no one said anything to me in person about it. Not even a simple “thank you for your work” text. That made me feel super disrespected because I really worked my butt off while I was there. I’m glad I’m not working there anymore. Even though it wasn’t the best experience, I’m still grateful for my time there. Because I learned a LOT in the time I spent helping set up the store. Crazy how both bad and good come out of experiences like that

Exactly. It's almost like you need to hire a private eye to prove the truth.

This might be lower on the rung, but i need help navigating this:

My regional manager saw me cleaning my work room, dusting etc. and i just so happened to have my hair wrapped. She claimed that i looked like "the help"

I'm quite obviously a Black woman, and the person in question is a middle aged White woman. I was disrespected and went to my Assistant General manager, who told the General Manager, who said she doesnt think that the RM didnt mean it that way, but claimed she would talk to her about it.

About a week goes by and the AGM is cleaning one of the rooms and the Regional manager pokes me and says "remember when you were cleaning with that thing on your head, and i said you looked like the help?"

This leads me to believe the GM did not talk to her about the conversation, so i ended up having to confront the RM about the comment. She replies "im sorry that you got offended." And went on and on about how she's not racist and that she would have said that to ANYBODY.

The GM still has not reached out to me regarding my concern, so now i scheduled a meeting with everyone involved.

I dont feel like i should have to do any of this, and that this should have been handled once it reached the GMs ears. I don't think it's racism, but I was still disrespected to the point where I'm not comfortable wearing my hair wrapped at work anymore.

Am i going about this correctly?

I literally just started my job and my manager straight up told me that I was an equal opportunity employee.
