My great granddad was actually in the regiment who had Wojtek. He was allowed to go with him to Scotland after the war and that's how I ended up living in the UK despite my family being German and Polish.

Fun fact about WW2 Polish army:
During the invasion of Poland in 1939, Polish pilots had a very difficult time keeping up with Luftwaffe due to low quality of airplanes. They often needed to stay right at their tails and keep pressing down to shoot much longer than needed. Consequently, those who survived turned out to be excellent Ace pilots during 1940 battle of Brittain, since they kept the old habits that helped them survive and shoot down enemies now with equipment to match their German enemies.

You can make Wojtek the King of just Poland or a united Slavic Union in Hearts of Iron 4. You pick him up as a general by doing a few things like controlling parts of Iran and also having troops in parts of Italy. Do that while also doing the Polish Anastasia path. Eventually you are able to kick out the fake Anastasia and have Wojtek rule as King. Then you can form the Slavic Union if you conquer most Slavic lands. He ends up getting a crown and robe for a more regal look.
