This week we share with you which boat Raf finally chose. We head to the boat to sail her back and we slowly find out that we probably should not have taken the broker for his word… This is why you ALWAYS get your boat surveyed because it could save you a lot of money on the purchase…

I watched a youtube vid several years ago. The guy had to routinely go under a low bridge to get to open water. His solution was to artifically list the boat by 15 degrees by hanging large bags filled with water on one side of the boat. It has the effect of reducing the mast height and in your case would also reduce your draft. Just an idea that could reduce your pucker factor. Loving the channel. Looking forward to more.

These last 3 videos have been some of the best I’ve seen in years. Not only fantastic content - but that editing is superb. So refreshing to see compared to all others. Glad I found my new ‘spirit animal’. Congratulations on the epic success I have no doubt is before you! Cheers!

Provided that you have the draft available you can always take on some water in the bilges to lower you boat a bit deeper in the water for an extra few inches of clearance.

55 gal drum attached to halyard. Fill with water crank the boat over 30 degrees. Done.

I think this is going to be fun to watch. Hope it takes off for you two. I didn’t know much about Raff but I see a totally new Sascha, more outgoing.

My heart's in my throat!! Thank God I know you lived to tell the tale. Raff you are a lucky man. Not only is Sascha an experienced sailor. She's not afraid of hard work, will have a cocktail and is totally hot. Let the fun begin. Sorry I forgot the 9 months of hard work part. 😁

heel the boat over. hang a dingy or something from the halyard and pole it out to tip the boat over. same thing you have to do if youre grounded.

This is the episode that got me hooked!
I’ve sent the link for it to friends and now they’re hooked.
Perfect cliffhanger at the end.

To reduce the height of the mast, attach an anchor or two to the main halyard, climb on top of the anchors and heel the boat over. Or go to a nearby college bar and recruit 15 people to sit on one side to heel it over.

I bought a boat with a survey from the seller and paid the price. Pay for your own survey before you buy is the best advice.

I owned a boat sales / repair shop and also a real estate company. I always advised my clients to get the house / boat inspected by a qualified (here in Arizona house inspectors must be licensed) BEFORE they get serious about buying. I raised and bought horses and before I bought one I had my vet AND my farrier check the horse out. Never rely on the seller disclosing things that can bite you later.
