Youtube tried hiding this video, I had to blur a ton and repost. If you've already watched Id appreciate it a ton if you played it in the background on low volume as I spent a ton of time on it and Id hate to have the video be left in purgatory. Thank you all so much for the support!

The fact that like… 75% of these incidents could have been avoided if either the passengers or the workers were paying any sort of attention to the rules-

I'm convinced I was saved by some high school kids at six flags in 2006. I noticed my seatbelt was malfunctioning and started to scream for them to stop the ride, but they couldn't hear me. A row of older kids behind me thought I was joking so they joined me chanting "Stop the ride" which worked. I changed seats (not sure why I still went on it) and thanked the older kids, who admitted they thought it was a joke. It was a ride where they raise you up 100s of feet on a double sided... paddle? and flip you around a LOT. I'm almost sure I would've fallen out of the malfunctioning restraints. 12 year olds can't fight gravity that well. Still so grateful for the older kids helping me get the attendants to stop, even if they thought it was just a funny thing to do. ❤

I remember in the early 90s I was in line in back of a family to get on Disney World’s ride, “Hollywood Tower of terror”. The family in front of me consisted of a VERY pregnant woman with her husband and young child. There were signs posted everywhere warning about pregnant women not riding the ride among other warnings, She clearly could’ve read those while waiting in line. However, she went the way to the entrance of the ride and the operator stopped her. He said you cannot ride this you are visibly very pregnant. She argued with him and argued with him and looked at her husband and her husband shook his head “ No” and took his son and went in without her. She stormed out of there, screaming that she was going to sue him AND the park and everybody for discrimination! The ride operator probably saved her life and all she did was get indignant and nasty. She should’ve known better as a very pregnant woman that her safety and the baby safety come first!

It's so sad that so many of these accidents involve young people and children - so many ride operators are teens looking for summer jobs and who haven't been properly trained in the job and all the safety stuff, just used by companies for quick and cheap work and who aren't bothered by their inexperience

There’s a YouTube channel called Coaster College where he goes over ride accidents and explains what went wrong and who was at fault, he uses the ride accident report. He did a video on the Ride of Steel accident and he said when parks train ride operators they show them the accident and they have to point out what went wrong as well as what should’ve happened.

Fun fact the smiler crash actually hit the stalled cart multiple times and after it was done there were only centimeters of leg space.

small correction: Dueling Dragons did still run both tracks at the same time after the incidents, but they had a staggered launch. One train on one track would be released, and then the opposing train on the other track would be released once the previous cleared the station. So they never had the “near miss effect” afterwards, but you could still see both dragons moving at the same time.

I’m not sure why, but out of this whole video the one that I found the most upsetting was the one with the 12 year old girl who hit the ground because the safety net wasn’t raised… I don’t usually get too upset by videos like this but that one just felt so… Real. And awful. Like I can so clearly imagine the safety net lying on the ground. And it must’ve been so awful for the parents to see that…

Unfun Fact: The section of the Matterhorn Bobsleds where the Dolly Young died is referred to as “Dolly’s Dip”

I think the tower of power drop was one of the worst ones to learn about for me because it's the exact "final destination" type of situation that caused my fear of rollercoasters to begin with. having wires wrap around her feet and then entirely rip both feet off is an insane thing to try to visualise

9:27 In the US, carnival rides need to be inspected every time they’re built. That means twice a month or so during fair season, they’re inspected head to toe.

Amusement parks with stationary rides can be lucky to get a yearly glance over, so rusted or broken parts easily slip through the cracks.

Ooh! "Fun" fact.. i was there that day of the superman tower of power incident. I didnt really get to ride shit that day because just before she lost her feet, another ride i was waiting in line for had caught fire. I cant remember the name of it but the track was yellow and had an asian theme like ninja or dragon or something.

Can’t find any comments about 6:29 but why on earth was the net not suspended, and if that was the whole safety measure for the ride why did NOBODY notice the net was on the ground???!! 😮

6:58 how tf does everyone let her fall while the giant conspicuous net was still on the ground. The sheer incompetence

Entertaining video. Sorry it got restricted. I said it in the original upload but listening to amusement park accidents is scarier than true crime to me

Sad to know some of these could've been stopped if people listened to signs and the workers could've payed attention

One of my high school teachers was on the same Matterhorn cart as the 48 year old, being a couple rows behind her.
