For the roller coaster with the man that had amputated legs. It had been said multiple times that he threatened to sue the park for discrimination if they did not let him on the ride. Just wanted to put that out there

When I was 8, a rollercoaster bar came unlatched and I started to come out of the seat. The guy behind me saw this and held me down. Never got to thank him, so thank you for saving me.

With the superman ride I remember seeing that the park employees DID in fact tell him that he could not ride but he pulled the discrimination card and threatened to sue them.

I can’t imagine being the only survivor of the last one. They most likely lost their family and also have a severe amount of trauma from that.

I work at the park the son of beast accident happened. Just started working this year in games, but it’s a very well known accident there. It really goes to show how well trained all the employees in rides are, as after seeing how a bunch of people were injured, they hit e-stop. If they hadn’t hit e-stop people would have likely died on the next ride.

In the smiler there was no design flaw. it wasn't due to the mechanics either . it was ALL human error. In fact the ride itself stopped the full cart when it detected the empty cart was still occuping the second block but the maintance team didn't know about the empty cart (since the operating team didn't tell them) and thus override the mechanism thinking it was a random sensor malfunction causing the full cart to go ahead and then collide with the empty cart.

You just popped up and I just randomly read your interaction with Sean about his footage.
Super respectable and humble response! Starting a channel in a niche that has some heavy hitters is no joke. Good for you and I can’t wait to see where you take this journey!

In regards to the Smiler ride, they were adding another car to the track to help get more guests on (since the lines were really backed up). Mechanics who launched the car didn't tell the operators. The operators did see an alarm go off about a car stuck, but because they thought they were only using 3 train cars (not 4), they hit override button- instead of actually visually looking on the tracks itself like they were supposed too. Also, high winds were a factor to why that 1 empty car got stuck. They now shut the ride down during high wind days.

A little more info on the Smiler:

The guest-filled train stopped as it should on the top of the first chain lift. Why? Because another train was on the track. It stopped due to a safety mechanism. Though, ride operators didn’t notice, and let the guest-filled train go, thinking it was a malfunction....

it wasn’t.

Great video! The double amputee who fell off the ride of steel actually didn’t fall off on the first drop but that’s a pretty minor detail. Good job!

Fun fact: at a nearby hotel, Son of Beast could be ridden virtually even after it was taken down. Unfortunately, the virtual ride at the arcade was taken down years later.

4:37 actually there's was no design flaw in the rollercoaster at all. The mechanic overrode the blockzone. It was fully human error.

I was on the Mindbender in 1994. When I was at West Edmonton Mall the Mindbender was functioning fine, but the drop tower ride malfunctioned. We got stuck at the top while another car was stuck halfway down the track. I thought we were going to collide, but park employees dislodged the first cart, and we all made it down safely.😬 I'm pretty sure that drop tower ride was completely replaced since then.

Very impressed by this video. The script handles the sensitive issues with the care they deserve and the video wastes no time getting to the points. Very informative and professional from a young creator. I love to see it. You will surely have more hits like this in the future man as long as you stick with this.

It's good that the Mindbender is still open till this day. Even after this big incident that happened in the 80's, they found a way to have the coaster reopen and keep it in good condition till this day. I hope it reopens soon, since they had to close it for 9 months due to Shipping delays and not bieng able to fully maintain the ride.

But great video By the way, I really enjoyed it.

I only went on the Smiler 2 days ago, and it was the first ever rollercoaster I ever went on. About 10 hours later, I arrived home and my mom told me that she was a bit worried about me going on it, because of the crash in 2015. If she had told me that before going, I probably never would have gone on.
