Former CZ-USA employee here. Most of the stuff you are saying is true. Colt went through and made it miserable enough that the employees that didnt get fired found better jobs other places. I loved every minute while I was there untill colt took over. I worked there for 5 years and its sad to see all the hard work we did to build the brand go down the toilet.

CZ employee here. CZ never purchased Colt. It was the group that owns CZ. So we are pretty much side-by-side with Colt. While I agree with the fact it's a shame some long-term employees were let go I don't think there is a reason to be sad about the future. If you wish CZs in different colors, hit CZ configurator. Does not make sense to sell them in the configurator and as a standard at the same time... CZ has a uniquely wide portfolio - rimfire rifles, hunting rifles, military rifles, 9mm carbines, sniper rifles, competition handguns, duty handguns, EDC handguns, grenade launcher... and the factory cannot make dozens of versions of each model ;)

If I had a choice between a CZ 75 vs anything colt. I'd pick the 75.

Personally, I think that MANY companies would do well to consider focusing on less product diversity and more product quality. Do consumers really need a bunch of new offerings "just because"?

I spoke with CZ today. They have no plans on discontinuing the P07 even though they have scaled back additional versions. Basic plain black. They also told me there are new models coming this summer and right before the Holidays. Lets not panic yet.

Very interesting to get your perspective on this. I too have a long time relationship with CZ and noticed some time ago that they had gone radio silent. The go-to contact there (I have no doubt you worked with her too) was the name and face of the company to me, and suddenly emails to her bounced back undelivered. I worked for one of the world's largest financial companies - who acquired another financial company (this was many years back) and it was the same dynamic. It was like we loaned them the money to buy US. Suddenly their brand was at the forefront and their personnel were the ones keeping the jobs and getting promoted. It's a strange situation. Colt will likely drag CZ down to near nothing - because that's all Colt knows how to do - fail.

The last few years I've noticed CZ has been dropping the ball... Discontinued the Rami that everyone loves, came out with the P-10M when everyone else was offering 10+ capacity micro nines, now they have a 22LR Scorpion for $1000??

I really hope whoever is at the reins catches on and starts correcting the course before it's too late. I could honestly care less about Colt, and I feel like most people agree. They don't need to repeat the same things that made Colt go belly up.

Similar to the mentality of people moving away from California, only to continue spreading the same failed ideologies to other states.

Yep, when they made Colt the boss of the combined USA operations, I figured it was bad news. Colt was always able to bank on government contract$ to mask their ineptitude.

I really scratched my head when they discontinued the bolt action centerfire rifles. Then they finally came out with the new bolt guns, and i wasn't impressed in the least.

I found this interesting considering a discussion I had with my FFL when I went to pick up my CZ pistol a year ago. He told me then that the CZ rep was telling him about the strategic errors made by CZ, not the first of which was acquiring Colt and keeping the management team, but also focusing on the Canadian market which shortly thereafter shut down thanks to Trudeau. Europeans gonna... Europeanate??? I hate to see it because I love my CZ and you'll pry my cold dead fingers etc, etc, but it only takes one or two idiots at the top of any company to send them to oblivion.

I picked up a P07 3 months ago and the salesman said it was being discontinued. Everybody was worried that colt would drag CZ down and it looks like that is happening

Colt is a bottomless pitt of despair. While boutique manufacturers were coming up with products to fill an endless demand at the time, Colt filed for bankruptcy.

I’ve noticed this in the gun shops that I frequently visit, CZs are never in stock because they have backed off production. Colts that never sell are always in stock.

I had a "feeling" about CZ two years ago and quickly purchased two 75 SP01 Competitions...both the red AND the blue with the 21 round magazines. Loaded up on extra magazines too (19 rounds) just in case. I always wanted that pistol and am happy I found them in stock last year.

Unfortunately this is a common problem in corporate America. A large fintech company was going under, got bought out by another fintech company, and they made the ceo of the failed company the ceo of the combined companies. And suddenly all the bosses are his cronies and they started running the acquiring company into the ground. I left the company because of how they ran things.

Glad somebody else is mentioning this. I’d much rather have the 500 series rifles than the new 600 series rifles. Then add over promising and not delivering. Specifically talking about the barrel switching capability.

I will never sell my Shadow 2 or my P10C. I love CZs. A couple of years ago I noticed how so many CZs would be out of stock online and they were never restocked!
