Updated my mid-2010 MacPro 3.33 running 1.50 OCLP to 14.6.1. Updated perfectly with no issues.

Thank you Mr. Macintosh. Thanks for addressing this seemingly minor update for serious issue.

Thank you for the update video and congrats on the 5 year celebration 🎉

Your explanation of what's new is so much better and more detailed than what we usually get with the official release notes

This was an outstanding video. I appreciate your directness about where Apple falls short in documenting the content of these updates, and also your detail on all aspects. Thank you so much!

on a Macbook Air and waiting on the 14/6/1 update and the bar never moved even pass 10 minutes.
It says "Preparing macOS Sonoma 14.6.1..."
Below the blue bar says... "About 30 minutes remaining"
Its been over 10 minutes and the "30 Minute" sentence and blue bar hasn't moved after it updated before the preparation...
Why is this happening?

I poked around and did the 14.6 just a few days ago. So I thought for a second I might have had a rollback on the 14.6 and had to do it again, but then I saw this and realized it was another update altogether. Thanks for the info!

THAT'S it in. anutshell, Mr. Maintosh:
The latest version of macOS Sonoma is now 14.6.1. Among other things, this update fixes a bug in connection with Advanced Data Protection (ADP).

WHAT’S NEW in macOS 14.6.1?
The macOS 14.6.1 update fixes a recent iCloud issue that prevented a small number of users from successfully enabling or disabling Advanced Data Protection (ADP). Affected users who attempted to enable ADP and failed received a clear error message and saw a correct indication in the user interface that ADP was not enabled.

Users who tried to deactivate ADP and failed, on the other hand, saw that ADP was displayed as deactivated in the user interface, even though it was still active. With the update, these users will now receive a notification that will take them to the settings to confirm their decision to deactivate ADP. Despite the problem, the affected users ultimately had the same or a higher level of security than expected.

The weird thing to me is that that Apple ID settings screen has some bit of a remote component. I'm surprised they couldn't fix it serverside.

@Mr.Macintosh, I want to thank you for your insightful videos, very helpful, much appreciated.

I am new at this, and need clarification. I have MacBook Pro 13 Early 2015. I have followed your detailed instructions about a month ago and installed OCLP 1.5.0 and running Sonoma 14.5.

Everything works smooth as intended.

In order to upgrade to 14.6.1, what are the steps I need to do besides backup and making sure FileVault is on? Do I simply go to Software Update and click 'Update Now' and let it install and I am finished?

Thanks in advance!

My Mini M2 did not notify me of the 14.6 update, today it notified me of the 14.6.1 update. The install took about 7 minutes.

I just tap the fn key to bring up the emoji list on my Macs. I thought that was how it was done.

A non-security update could explain where there was no announcement of 14.6.1 whatsoever to their security-announce list. I'm so accustomed to getting an email when there's something new that getting the OS alert so soon after taking 14.6 shocked me.

Interesting point my late 2015 iMac was on 14.5 and would no longer activate the GoogleDrive / So jumped directly to 14.6.1 - had to safety boot to install the OCLP patches due to continuous restarts when booting normally...

Install took about :15 minutes on my supported MacMini 8, 1 (Late 2018). No problems. Installing on my first Unsupported MacPro 6, 1 Trashcan (2013-2019) and it looks like it's going to take ~1:00 hour...

Upgraded tonight from 14.6 to 14.6.1 on Late 2013 iMac 27". Had to reapply root patches after update as expected. No issues, so far.

Do you think it's really broken or are they just not including some info for security reasons. Consider that if this patch fixes a very specific vulnerability, telling people about it could direct legions of assholes to exploiting it on any unpatched machines which will be many for some time. So maybe Apple is jut not giving clues.

I installed it on my Mac 5, 1 and the TV app will not load my video library. I can open the app then when I click on my library it shuts down. I can play the video on my Apple TV 4K but I can’t view the videos on my Mac with out shutting down the TV app on the Mac

@Mr.Macintosh Hello, I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I think you do a great job providing information to your viewers. I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro Mid-2012 non-retina. I’m replacing my hard drive with a 4TB SSD. I have prepared a Flash Drive following your instructions for installing macOS Sonoma and Catalina on two separate partitions. My question is: If I partition the SSD with one as a 3TB & 1TB partitions. I want to put macOS v10.15 & v14.6.1 on those two partitions. When I switch between the two operating systems, can I still use the Startup Disk control panel or do I have to use the Startup Manager using the Option key? Thanks for your help.
