In this lesson I am showing you whether it's clever to play a draw shot or to apply spin / side / english. I show you this on the most popular shot, that you already know from one of my other lessons.

A few people already made me aware that the angles aren't correct. 30° angle is actually a 150° angle, 50° angle is actually a 130° angle and 70° angle is actually 110°. Thanks for the hint, obviously I was a little negligent when I was making the graphics.

Sorry for that mistake guys :)

The carefully crafted graphics you’ve put together to support your (clear) descriptions of all the variations available for a single shot are the best I’ve seen. Others in the series are excellent as well.

The best theoretical analysis of one of the most common positioning shots. Really takes some deep understanding as well as hands-on practice for you to make such clear illustrations. Please keep it up, Sharivari!

The combination of the illustrations and playback, especially the fact that you show the cue ball and the contact points are excellent. This is the way I learn, not just from being told, but from having a clear picture in my mind from all aspects. Thanks so much.. !!

One of the best pool videos I've ever seen. Thank you!
Please do a similar one for inside spin.

I agree with the comments by others that your use of graphics was extremely helpful. Another popular pool tutorial site relies on just a lot of talking with poor camera angles and minimal use of any supporting graphics. As a result, learning from that site is inhibited. While you’re running monologue was extensive, it was also directed to the point being made without a lot of excess banter, Again unlike the other site I’ve mentioned. Keep up the good work.

I love the animation at 6:58, very clearly shows how to consider adjusting for the different angles.

Thanks so much! Been playing for 40 years and it just changed my game too. That side pocket has always been my nemesis. Your explanation makes perfect sense. Well done! Some other players are now in big trouble!

This is gold! I play a lot of 8 ball, and any time I can use less speed and have more control helps. This channel has quickly become my favorite source of instruction. Thank you. And this was not too much info. Best video yet! Thanks again

This like many other videos I've seen from Sharivari is top notch pocket billiard instruction. Not only is everything he covers in this video true, but also the video production shows where to hit the cue ball based on it's location in relation to the object ball and we can see the cue ball move and as it moves we can see how the side spin changes. Simply put, this is a damn good video for those who are interested in improving.

While all of your videos are exceptional, I believe this one and your Cue ball Physics/Learn to control the Cue ball are very
important for those that truly want to improve their game by understanding why and how the cue ball ends up where it does. Great work! Thank you!

Excellent stuff as always

The 9 being off the rail allows the cue ball spin to take. If the 9 was frozen or just a hair off the rail, it changes the shot.

Also you can overhit the ball no matter how much spin you put on it which will prevent the cue ball English to perform like you want it to.

Speed is huge on these shots.

Good insights. With this common shot, I think most pool players go through the struggle of deciding how much low vs how much right. I always judge it by feel, so it’s good to see how others approach this.

Very clear and helpful. I'm planning to use this to improve 8ball pool on my phone. Thanks

It's funny that years ago i struggled with this exact shot.. weather to use low right or just right on that shot. Couldn't find the answer anywhere and had to figure it out myself. You up and comers have a big advantage these days with Youtube, you can take years off your game by watching videos instead of just figuring it out, or being lucky enough to have someone who would share that info with you. Back in the day, top players kept that kinda thing secret lol. Thank this man for helping you, this is the kinda information that will really help your game. In the end it's so much easier to just use left or right rather than using draw, you can hit the ball slower which improves the likelyhood of making the ball.

Wow, incredible video. I love the detail you go into explaining this concept, and the visuals you use are invaluable to the teaching process. Not all pool videos show you exactly where you need to place the cue on the white ball when shooting, or explain how the change in english effects the path of the cue ball as well as the object ball, so thank you for explaining it so well.
Yes, please make another video going into more detail about spin and throw. You can never go into too much detail in a video or make too many videos on this subject. That just gives me a reason to watch it again and again, LOL 😂. Also, a video on more banking techniques and how throw/spin will effect your banking or kicking at balls would be GREAT!
I'd love to hear you to make a video just explaining more about exactly how the balls act like gears. That if one ball spins one way the other will spin the opposite direction. Also how the spin on the balls react when hitting a rail. Plus I rarely hear anyone talk about how chalk, dirt, oil, or water effect the balls, table, etc... Could you please make a video going into these things in detail (the way you always do😁) Thanks! Dee😊👍
