I like to practice this with tape on the floor because I like to minimize the jump during the pivot. More of a sliding motion.

It’s crazy how this came naturally to me. I was always heavyset and then got bigger. This led to being underestimated. I remember this one guy who was friends with one of my homeboys.

His body language, and of phrasing towards me, made it very apparent that he didn’t like me, and thought I was weak.

He was trying to show some boxing to another homeboy of mine when they were talking about a specific situation, and how to combat against it.

I told him there was a better and much easier way.

He rolled his eyes, and I asked him to do the same thing again. This time he came at me full speed, and I was almost caught off guard.

I went into a slight crouch, as I said out, loud, get down near the height of his center of gravity, Take a slight side step, then twist your body hard and punch through them, sliding your left foot back as you slide your body slightly forward launching off of your left leg and then stabilizing with your right.

I didn’t punch him very hard just enough. 😂

But in his mind, he thought I was going to punch him at full strength. So much so that he exhaled hard, lean back slightly, and then realized what was happening and leaned back on his heels and fell straight down onto his butt.

Everyone laughed, and he yelled. “shut the fuck up. I thought he was really gonna hit me!”

😂

I’ll give him credit, though he did laugh nervously and told me that he had underestimated me and then asked me to show him how I did it exactly.

Rolling around on the corners of your feet like that will get you knocked back and over easily. Your stability must push off the ground like a spring, not like a balancing toothpick on its tip. You always have to be planted and ready to take a hit, throw a punch, or move and whatever else you need to do. No hate or supremacy here, only constructive criticism my brother 😉❤️ stay at it bro. You float like a butterfly and sting like a bee, obviously. Something great in the making.

Shifting your feet instead of hopping or stepping is more effective and allows you to generate more power from almost any position or angle. Look at most muay thai fighters, Mike tyson or Tank. They rarely hop and when they do it's to change stances or to deliver a powerful blow
