It was 1970, I had just moved to Southern California age 17, doing the tourist thing in Hollywood and there it was…a huge billboard with a spotted cow and the words Pink Floyd. What the hell is a Pink Floyd and what does it have to do with livestock? Fast forward just a few days in a record shop in Pasadena and there was the cow on an album cover. Of course curiosity got the best of me so I bought it blind. I loved it! Fast forward again maybe a year or two to the region of my birth, western NY state, got to see them perform live in Niagara Falls. I’m 70 now. Still appreciate theses guys…

I saw them play this live in Shepton Mallet in 1970 for the first time ever when Roger waters came on stage and said they were gonna play this under the tentative title of The Amazing Pudding! One of the greatest moments of my life. It was about 1 o'clock in the morning and I will remember this forever, til I get dementia or whatever. Thank you Floyd. Btw it is one of the greatest way to bring someone down from a bad trip is to play this album. Us old hippies never die we just slip into the cosmos....

I don't care if Pink Floyd themselves hate this album! I still think it's their most underrated work!

I tried listening to this several times when I was younger. Couldn't do it. Floyd is one of the few groups I could sit through an entire album without flipping through tracks. I've sat through every last one of their albums but I could never bring myself to sit through this one until today when I was working in the garden. Chalk it up to impatience and the ignorance of youth I suppose. Finally starting to appreciate the finer things in life.

In 1972, as my brother and I were buying tents to live in at Sears, this was playing on a demo cassette player by the door. Why, I don't know. I guess they were demonstrating the cassette player with a tape they thought they couldn't sell. They were wrong. I immediately fell in love with it so we bought it. I think it was because of the beautiful wailing guitar in "If." Unbelievable guitar work with amazing guitar harmonies! AMAZING. It pulls your heart. It is the true "Transitional" work between the Syd Barrett years and subsequent material. By what I understand Meddle was recorded by the band as they carried forth. This is a very unique sound as many were in those days. Velvet Underground, Lennard Cohen, Emerson Lake and Palmer, the Moody Blues were all very worthy of praise and the music from that period will forever be ingrained in my heart.

In 1978, I was in the Soviet Union, in Kyiv, listening to Atom Heart Mother then on a reel-to-reel tape recorder.

I've listened to the Atom Heatt Mother Suite at least a thousand times and each time I do I still hear something different I hadn't noticed before.

It’s all those horns for me. It’s like a great poem. A conversation between strings and horns and people and beach boys and love singing you to sleep between nightmares.

Eu tinha 18 anos qdo assisti o filme The Wall. Depois disso, assisti 40 vezes em diversas situações. Amo todo o repertório desse fabuloso grupo. Aliás todas as músicas feitas por eles são uma trilha sonora da minha vida. Salve, salve o Pink Floyd nota 1000.

I bought this on vinyl as a kid of maybe 12 years old. I was totally into Prog and hard rock/heavy metal. I would relax to this and be taken to another world without drugs being necessary. I do not listen to conventional heavy metal anymore but I listen to and always will listen to progressive rock such as this. This is a timeless masterpiece and one of my favorite Floyd releases. Now I do listen to and enjoy progressive metal. I started with Prog and am going out with prog. This album brings back good memories as a child. They do not make music like this anymore. 1970 was a magical year for music.

One of my favourite memories of being in my 20s (20 years ago or so) was spending evenings at a friends, smoking hash and listening to classic prog. I would lend my friends cd of Atom Heart Mother to listen to on my cd walkman, and the title track lasted exactly from my friends front door to my front door. Awesome times
