As someone who studied law first and then went into Business/ Econ I would agree, law school teaches you A LOT of skills that are useful in any other degree and the real world

Economist here who learned with the Open University in the UK.

A good 60% of economics is understanding the psychology that leads to agent behaviours, decisions, drivers and motivators.

Knowing how to open a negative output gap in the economy mathematically is great but only people that work for the BoE would be interested in that.

I used my degree to start a firm that constructs custom, cost benefit analysis and asset management software.

No shortage of clients no matter what the economic conditions may be... but I know that will be the case because I'm an economist. 😊

I hate when somebody says they didn’t use the mathematics in real life that they learned from school. The thing is, it’s not about the formulas and math problems, it’s about overall cognitive function that your brain gets to develop when solving the math problem. Basically making you smarter in some ways when solving math problems.

i love that sociology is his second most useful degree and also the degree where he learnt the most cause for many people this subject is underestimated and illegitimate when it's really not

For deciding your degree, i feel like it’s always best to just do what you enjoy, rather than picking a degree you might not like because it could get you better job prospects. Generally, the degree you do won’t actually matter much because a lot of people will take conversions or grad schemes into the career they actually want (the only exception to this is medicine, obviously)
